- The present changes in society leads to the fact that school’s traditional forms for work are reconsidered. This leads into a change in educational forms and a new teacher’s role. There are reasons to try to find new forms for further education for teachers, issuing from the teachers themselves. Lately the collaboration between teachers and researchers has been put forward as a possible way to develop school. One of the problems has been the lack of arenas for such an exchange. By "Research Circles" Dalarna Centre for Educational Development has created such arenas, where teachers and researchers are working together. The social con-text in the Research Circle invites into an activity, which could be characterised as "the educational discourse". It is founded upon the condition that the participants share a common frame of references, codified in a linguistic usage. The aims with this paper are • to describe how Dalarna university, in collaboration with the municipalities in the region, has created Centre for Educational Development as an arena for school de-velopment • to describe and discuss if the research circle as a form for work can serve as a meeting-place for teachers and researchers and if this can be a way for teachers in-service learning
