  • Effect of photobiomodulation therapy on painful temporomandibular disorders
  • 2021
  • Ingår i: Scientific Reports. - : Nature Publishing Group. - 2045-2322. ; 11:1
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • To evaluate the effect of photobiomodulation therapy (PBMT) on painful temporomandibular disorders (TMD) patients in a randomized, double-blinded, placebo-controlled manner. Participants were divided into a masseter myalgia group (n = 88) and a temporomandibular joint (TMJ) arthralgia group (n = 87) according to the Diagnostic Criteria for Temporomandibular Disorders (DC/TMD). Both groups randomly received PBMT or placebo treatment once a day for 7 consecutive days, one session. The PBMT was applied with a gallium-aluminum-arsenide (GaAlAs) laser (wavelength = 810 nm) at pre-determined points in the masseter muscle (6 J/cm2, 3 regions, 60 s) or TMJ region (6 J/cm2, 5 points, 30 s) according to their most painful site. Pain intensity was rated on a 0–10 numerical rating scale (NRS) and pressure pain thresholds (PPT) and mechanical sensitivity mapping were recorded before and after the treatment on day 1 and day 7. Jaw function was assessed by pain free jaw opening, maximum unassisted jaw opening, maximum assisted jaw opening, maximum protrusion and right and left excursion. Data were analyzed with a mixed model analysis of variance (ANOVA). Pain intensity in arthralgia patients decreased over time (P < 0.001) for both types of interventions, however, PBMT caused greater reduction in pain scores than placebo (P = 0.014). For myalgia patients, pain intensity decreased over time (P < 0.001) but without difference between interventions (P = 0.074). PPTs increased in both myalgia (P < 0.001) and TMJ arthralgia patients over time (P < 0.001) but without difference between interventions (P ≥ 0.614). Overall, PBMT was associated with marginally better improvements in range of motion compared to placebo in both myalgia and arthralgia patients. Pain intensity, sensory function and jaw movements improve after both PBMT and placebo treatments in myalgia and arthralgia patients indicating a substantial non-specific effect of PBMT.

  • Adjunctive effects of laser therapy on somatosensory function and vasomotor regulation of periodontal tissues in patients with periodontitis : A randomized controlled clinical trial
  • 2020
  • Ingår i: Journal of Periodontology. - : John Wiley & Sons. - 0022-3492 .- 1943-3670. ; 91:10, s. 1310-1317
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • BACKGROUND: The purpose of this prospective study was to compare the changes in periodontal somatosensory function and microcirculation in patients with periodontitis following initial treatment with scaling and root planing (SRP) with or without adjuvant laser therapy.METHODS: Twenty-four patients suffering from periodontitis were recruited and randomly allocated into a split-mouth design to either SRP combined laser therapy side (test side) or SRP only side (control side). All treatments were performed by the same investigator at a single visit. Laser Doppler Flowmetry (LDF) and Quantitative Sensory Testing (QST) were performed at baseline (W0), 1 week (1W), 2 weeks (2W), and 4 weeks (4W) after treatment on both sides of the attached gingiva of the maxillary lateral incisor. Clinical examination including pocket probing depth (PPD) and bleeding on probing (BOP) was performed at W0, 2W, and 4W on both sides. Data were analyzed with two-way analysis of variance (ANOVA).RESULTS: The PPD and BOP significantly improved after treatment (P <0.001). The LDF values were significantly decreased on both sides at all follow-up time points (P <0.001), temperature was increased only on the test side (P = 0.017) whereas there was no significant change on the control side (P = 0.792). Significantly less sensitivity was observed for all QST parameters (P <0.030) except for warmth detection after treatment.CONCLUSION: Adjunctive use of laser therapy did not provide any significant clinically advantage or additional effects on the recovery of periodontal somatosensory function or gingival microcirculation in the present study. • EXTENDED CALCULATIONS WITH SPECTROSCOPIC ACCURACY : ENERGY LEVELS AND TRANSITION PROPERTIES FOR THE FLUORINE-LIKE ISOELECTRONIC SEQUENCE WITH Z = 24–30
  • 2016
  • Ingår i: Astrophysical Journal Supplement Series. - : American Astronomical Society. - 0067-0049 .- 1538-4365. ; 227:2
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • We have performed extensive multiconfiguration Dirac–Hartree–Fock calculations and second-order many-body perturbation calculations for F-like ions with Z = 24–30. Energy levels and transition rates for electric dipole (E1), electric-quadrupole (E2), electricoctupole (E3), magnetic dipole (M1), and magnetic-quadrupole (M2) transitions, as well as radiative lifetimes, are provided for the lowest 200 levels belonging to the 1s22s22p5, 1s22s2p6, 1s22s22p43l, 1s22s2p53l, 1s22p63l, and 1s22s22p44l configurations of each ion. The results from the two sets of calculations are in excellent agreement. Extensive comparisons are also made with other theoretical results and observed data from the CHIANTI and NIST databases. The present energies and wavelengths are believed to be accurate enough to aid line identifications involving the n = 3 and n = 4 configurations, for which observations are largely missing. The calculated wavelengths and transition data will be useful in the modeling and diagnostics of astrophysical and fusion plasmas.

  • Surface-imprinted fluorescence microspheres as ultrasensitive sensor for rapid and effective detection of tetracycline in real biological samples
  • 2018
  • Ingår i: Sensors and actuators. B, Chemical. - : Elsevier. - 0925-4005 .- 1873-3077. ; 263, s. 533-542
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Molecularly imprinted fluorescence sensors have shown great promise in environmental or biological monitoring and due to its high stability, selectivity and sensitivity. In this study, a fluorescence surface imprinted sensor (SiO2-AF@MIPs) towards tetracycline (TC) was successfully prepared to address the shortcomings in current molecularly imprinted fluorescent sensor, such as slow response, limited detection and deteriorated performance in real complex samples. Benefited from the thin surface-imprinting layer, the SiO2-AF@MIPs sensors showed higher sensitivity (LOD low to 4.26 nM), rapid detection rate, reusable performance and excellent selectivity over several target competitors. Furthermore, the fluorescence sensor could efficiently detect TC in real biological samples, including tetracycline hydrochloride injection, human serum and swine urine. These results clearly demonstrated the potential value of this smart sensor nanomaterial in environmental monitoring and biological diagnosis. (C) 2018 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

  • Benchmarking Atomic Data for Astrophysics : Be-like Ions between B II and Ne VII
  • 2018
  • Ingår i: Astrophysical Journal Supplement Series. - : Institute of Physics (IOP). - 0067-0049 .- 1538-4365. ; 234:2
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Large-scale self-consistent multiconfiguration Dirac-Hartree-Fock and relativistic configuration interaction calculations are reported for the n <= 6 levels in Be-like ions from B II to Ne VII. Effects from electron correlation are taken into account by means of large expansions in terms of a basis of configuration state functions, and a complete and accurate data set of excitation energies; lifetimes; wavelengths; electric dipole, magnetic dipole, electric quadrupole, and magnetic quadrupole line strengths; transition rates; and oscillator strengths for these levels is provided for each ion. Comparisons are made with available experimental and theoretical results. The uncertainty of excitation energies is assessed to be 0.01% on average, which makes it possible to find and rule out misidentifications and aid new line identifications involving high-lying levels in astrophysical spectra. The complete data set is also useful for modeling and diagnosing astrophysical plasmas.

  • Calculations with spectroscopic accuracy : Energies and transition rates in the nitrogen isoelectronic sequence from Ar XII to Zn XXIV
  • 2016
  • Ingår i: Astrophysical Journal Supplement Series. - : American Astronomical Society. - 0067-0049 .- 1538-4365. ; 223:1
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Combined relativistic configuration interaction and many-body perturbation calculations are performed for the 359 fine-structure levels of the 2s2 2p3, 2 s2p4, 2p5, 2s2 2p2 3l, 2 s2p3 3l, 2p4 3l, and 2s2 2p2 4l configurations in N-like ions from Ar XII to Zn XXIV. Complete and consistent data sets of energies, wavelengths, radiative rates, oscillator strengths, and line strengths for all possible electric dipole, magnetic dipole, electric quadrupole, and magnetic quadrupole transitions among the 359 levels are given for each ion. The present work significantly increases the amount of accurate data for ions in the nitrogen-like sequence, and the accuracy of the energy levels is high enough to enable the identification and interpretation of observed spectra involving the n=3, 4 levels, for which experimental values are largely scarce. Meanwhile, the results should be of great help for modeling and diagnosing astrophysical and fusion plasmas.

  • Energy levels, lifetimes and radiative rates for transitions in the bromine isoelectronic sequence La XXIII-Dy XXXII, W XL
  • 2018
  • Ingår i: Atomic Data and Nuclear Data Tables. - : Elsevier. - 0092-640X .- 1090-2090. ; 123, s. 114-167
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Using the multiconfiguration Dirac-Fock method, calculations for the lowest 62 levels of the ([Ar] 3d(10))4s(2) 4p(5), ([Ar] 3d(10))4s(2)4p(3)4d(2), ([Ar] 3d(10))4s(2)4p(4)4d, ([Ar] 3d(10))4s4p(6), and ([Ar] 3d(10))4s4p(5)4d configurations are performed for the bromine isoelectronic sequence La XXIII-Dy XXXII, W XL. Results of energy levels, lifetimes, wavelengths, and electric dipole, magnetic dipole, electric quadrupole, and magnetic quadrupole radiative rates are presented. In order to assess the accuracy of results, independent calculations for W XL have been carried out using the many-body perturbation theory (MBPT) method. Comparisons are made with available theoretical results from other calculations and the observed values of the Atomic Spectra Database of the National Institute of Standards and Technology. Energy levels are estimated to be accurate to better than 1%, and radiative rates (and lifetimes) are accurate to better than 20% for a majority of strong transitions. These results should be useful in many applications of lanthanide ions related to broad area of research such as applied physics, laser physics and fusion science. (C) 2017 Elsevier Inc. Complete and consistent atomic data, including excitation energies, lifetimes, wavelengths, hyperfine structures, Lande g(J)-factors, and E1, M1, E2, M2 transition rates, line strengths, and oscillator strengths among these 344 levels are obtained. Comparisons are made between our two different sets of results, as well as with the other available experimental and theoretical values. For O-like Kr only a few levels have been experimentally established. The accuracy of our calculated energies is however high enough to facilitate identifications of observed lines involving the n = 3,4 levels. The calculated data are also useful for modeling and diagnosing fusion plasmas. (C) 2017 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
