  • GEMv2: Multilingual NLG Benchmarking in a Single Line of Code
  • 2022
  • Ingår i: Proceedings of the 2022 Conference on Empirical Methods in Natural Language Processing: System Demonstrations. - : Association for Computational Linguistics (ACL). ; , s. 266-281
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Evaluations in machine learning rarely use the latest metrics, datasets, or human evaluation in favor of remaining compatible with prior work. The compatibility, often facilitated through leaderboards, thus leads to outdated but standardized evaluation practices. We pose that the standardization is taking place in the wrong spot. Evaluation infrastructure should enable researchers to use the latest methods and what should be standardized instead is how to incorporate these new evaluation advances. We introduce GEMv2, the new version of the Generation, Evaluation, and Metrics Benchmark which uses a modular infrastructure for dataset, model, and metric developers to benefit from each other’s work. GEMv2 supports 40 documented datasets in 51 languages, ongoing online evaluation for all datasets, and our interactive tools make it easier to add new datasets to the living benchmark.

  • Preparation and Properties of Microporous Nickel with High Porosity
  • 2023
  • Ingår i: Rare Metal Materials and Engineering. - : Northwest Institute for Nonferrous Metal Research. - 1002-185X. ; 52:3, s. 876-882
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The strategy of sintered closed-hole followed by reopening was proposed to prepare the microporous nickel material with high porosity through the powder metallurgy and subsequential treatments. The carbonyl nickel powder with particle size of 1 mu m was used as raw material, and the effects of sintering process parameters on the pore properties and mechanical properties of microporous nickel were studied. Results show that the porosity measured by mercury injection method of microporous nickel is 53.7%, and the average pore diameter is 612.25 nm at the sintering temperature of 400 degrees C. After machining, the porosity measured by mercury injection method is 54.0%, and the average pore diameter is 511.37 nm, which still satisfies the requirements of engineering application. The strategy provides providing a new approach for the preparation of microporous nickel and other porous metal materials.

  • Boride-derived oxygen-evolution catalysts
  • 2021
  • Ingår i: Nature Communications. - : Springer Nature. - 2041-1723. ; 12
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Metal borides/borates have been considered promising as oxygen evolution reaction catalysts; however, to date, there is a dearth of evidence of long-term stability at practical current densities. Here we report a phase composition modulation approach to fabricate effective borides/borates-based catalysts. We find that metal borides in-situ formed metal borates are responsible for their high activity. This knowledge prompts us to synthesize NiFe-Boride, and to use it as a templating precursor to form an active NiFe-Borate catalyst. This boride-derived oxide catalyzes oxygen evolution with an overpotential of 167 mV at 10 mA/cm2 in 1 M KOH electrolyte and requires a record-low overpotential of 460 mV to maintain water splitting performance for over 400 h at current density of 1 A/cm2. We couple the catalyst with CO reduction in an alkaline membrane electrode assembly electrolyser, reporting stable C2H4 electrosynthesis at current density 200 mA/cm2 for over 80 h.

  • Genetic Studies of Leptin Concentrations Implicate Leptin in the Regulation of Early Adiposity
  • 2020
  • Ingår i: Diabetes. - : American Diabetes Association. - 0012-1797 .- 1939-327X. ; 69:12, s. 2806-2818
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Leptin influences food intake by informing the brain about the status of body fat stores. Rare LEP mutations associated with congenital leptin deficiency cause severe early-onset obesity that can be mitigated by administering leptin. However, the role of genetic regulation of leptin in polygenic obesity remains poorly understood. We performed an exome-based analysis in up to 57,232 individuals of diverse ancestries to identify genetic variants that influence adiposity-adjusted leptin concentrations. We identify five novel variants, including four missense variants, in LEP, ZNF800, KLHL31, and ACTL9, and one intergenic variant near KLF14. The missense variant Val94Met (rs17151919) in LEP was common in individuals of African ancestry only, and its association with lower leptin concentrations was specific to this ancestry (P = 2 × 10-16, n = 3,901). Using in vitro analyses, we show that the Met94 allele decreases leptin secretion. We also show that the Met94 allele is associated with higher BMI in young African-ancestry children but not in adults, suggesting that leptin regulates early adiposity.

  • Screening of Alternative Solvent Ionic Liquids for Artemisinin : COSMO-RS Prediction and Experimental Verification
  • 2021
  • Ingår i: Journal of Molecular Liquids. - : Elsevier. - 0167-7322 .- 1873-3166. ; 338
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Organic solvents are usually used to extract artemisinin from Artemisia annua L., and they can also be the solvents for the subsequent purification or derivatization to produce compounds with more efficient antimalarial effect. However, these solvents are volatile, explosive and toxic. The designable material ionic liquids (ILs) are alternative solvents to replace traditional ones. In this work, a reliable method for screening ILs with high solvation capability for artemisinin was developed. The infinite dilution activity coefficients of artemisinin in 903 ILs, composed by 43 cations and 21 anions, were calculated by COSMO-RS, and the results implied that the solubility of artemisinin in ILs mainly depends on the anions. Solubilities of artemisinin in 14 representative ILs were tested, and the results were in good accordance with those obtained in COSMO-RS calculation. The stability of artemisinin in some typical ILs was also studied, which indicated that this drug was stable in [EMIM][BF4], [EMIM][CF3Ac], [EMIM][NTF2], [BPY][NTF2], [EMIM][SCN], and [EMIM][Ac]. The excess enthalpy analysis demonstrated that artemisinin interacted with ILs mainly through hydrogen bond. Extraction of artemisinin using the optimal IL indicated that more artemisinin could be extracted from the leaves when compared with petroleum ether (254.73 mg/mol vs. 14.16 mg/mol), further verifying accuracy of the simulation results. Therefore, structures of ILs with high solvation capacity for artemisinin can be obtained by the COSMO-RS method.

  • Privacy and Security Issues in Deep Learning: A Survey
  • 2021
  • Ingår i: IEEE Access. - : IEEE. - 2169-3536. ; 9, s. 4566-4593
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Deep Learning (DL) algorithms based on artificial neural networks have achieved remarkable success and are being extensively applied in a variety of application domains, ranging from image classification, automatic driving, natural language processing to medical diagnosis, credit risk assessment, intrusion detection. However, the privacy and security issues of DL have been revealed that the DL model can be stolen or reverse engineered, sensitive training data can be inferred, even a recognizable face image of the victim can be recovered. Besides, the recent works have found that the DL model is vulnerable to adversarial examples perturbed by imperceptible noised, which can lead the DL model to predict wrongly with high confidence. In this paper, we first briefly introduces the four types of attacks and privacy-preserving techniques in DL. We then review and summarize the attack and defense methods associated with DL privacy and security in recent years. To demonstrate that security threats really exist in the real world, we also reviewed the adversarial attacks under the physical condition. Finally, we discuss current challenges and open problems regarding privacy and security issues in DL.

  • Frontiers in Photoelectrochemical Catalysis: A Focus on Valuable Product Synthesis
  • 2024
  • Ingår i: Advanced Materials. - : John Wiley & Sons. - 0935-9648 .- 1521-4095.
  • Forskningsöversikt (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Photoelectrochemical (PEC) catalysis provides the most promising avenue for producing value-added chemicals and consumables from renewable precursors. Over the last decades, PEC catalysis, including reduction of renewable feedstock, oxidation of organics, and activation and functionalization of C─C and C─H bonds, are extensively investigated, opening new opportunities for employing the technology in upgrading readily available resources. However, several challenges still remain unsolved, hindering the commercialization of the process. This review offers an overview of PEC catalysis targeted at the synthesis of high-value chemicals from sustainable precursors. First, the fundamentals of evaluating PEC reactions in the context of value-added product synthesis at both anode and cathode are recalled. Then, the common photoelectrode fabrication methods that have been employed to produce thin-film photoelectrodes are highlighted. Next, the advancements are systematically reviewed and discussed in the PEC conversion of various feedstocks to produce highly valued chemicals. Finally, the challenges and prospects in the field are presented. This review aims at facilitating further development of PEC technology for upgrading several renewable precursors to value-added products and other pharmaceuticals.

  • A quantitative comparison approach for different voltage dip characterization methods
  • 2016
  • Ingår i: Electric power systems research. - : Elsevier BV. - 0378-7796 .- 1873-2046. ; 133, s. 182-190
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • This paper presents a systematic approach to compare different methods for characterizing voltage dips in a quantitative way. A prediction error is calculated between measured and synthetic dips (reproduced from single-event characteristics for the measured dips) with respect to the way they impact the performance of a generic device. The proposed approach is illustrated by comparing seven different characterization methods and their ability to predict the minimum dc-bus voltage of a three-phase adjustable-speed drive. A generic model of such a drive is used for this. Based in this comparison it is concluded that characterization method for dips in three-phase systems should include unbalance and phase-angle jump.

  • Calculation of the phase-angle-jump for voltage dips in three-phase systems
  • 2015
  • Ingår i: IEEE Transactions on Power Delivery. - 0885-8977 .- 1937-4208. ; 30:1, s. 480-487
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The phase-angle-jump is defined in this paper as another single-event characteristic of voltage dips, besides residual or characteristic voltage and duration. This paper proposes and compares six methods to calculate the phase-angle-jump for measured voltage dips in a three-phase system. This paper also studies the details of the calculation: correcting frequency and transition segments. The six proposed methods have been applied to 235 sets of measured voltage dips and a statistical comparison has been made. It is recommended that two of the methods be included in IEEE Standard 1564 and IEC 61000-4-30.
