  • Association between the catechol-O-methyltransferase Val158Met polymorphism and panic disorder: A replication
  • 2010
  • Ingår i: Psychiatry Research. - : Elsevier Science B.V., Amsterdam.. - 0165-1781 .- 1872-7123. ; 178:1, s. 196-198
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The association between the catechol-O-methyltransferase Val158Met polymorphism and panic disorder was studied in a Swedish sample of 211 patients and 452 controls. We found a significant excess of the Val allele in both male and female patients, the latter but not the former finding being in line with previous studies.

  • Panic disorder is associated with the Val308Iso polymorphism in the hypocretin receptor gene
  • 2011
  • Ingår i: PSYCHIATRIC GENETICS. - : Rapid Communications of Oxford Ltd. - 0955-8829 .- 1473-5873. ; 21:2, s. 85-89
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Background Orexin A and B are neuropeptides influencing, for example, arousal and respiration. Although panic disorder is characterized by both enhanced proneness for arousal and by respiratory abnormalities, the possible influence of orexin-related genes on the risk of developing this disorder has not been studied until now. Methods We have analyzed the Ile408Val polymorphism in the hypocretin receptor 1 (HCRTR1) gene and the Val308Iso (G1246A) polymorphism in the hypocretin receptor 2 (HCRTR2) gene in a sample of 215 panic disorder patients and 454 controls. Results Although the polymorphism in the HCRTR1 did not differ between groups, the Iso allele of the HCRTR2 polymorphism was significantly more frequent in patients than in controls. After the population was divided according to sex, the association between the Iso allele of the Val308Iso polymorphism and panic disorder was observed only in female patients. Conclusion Our results suggest that the HCRTR2 polymorphism may be of importance for the pathophysiology of panic disorder. The results should be regarded as preliminary until replicated in an independent sample. This indicates that further research on the possible role of orexin in panic disorder may prove rewarding.

  • Professor Ingvar Kärnfelt - a birthday tribute
  • 2009
  • Ingår i: The Lichenologist. - Cambridge : Cambridge University Press. - 0024-2829 .- 1096-1135. ; 41:5, s. 453-456
  • Tidskriftsartikel (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
    • On 19 July 2009 Ingvar Kärnefelt celebrated his 65th birthday. This could have meant that we, his former students, would be celebrating him in his retirement from his position as head of the Biological Museums at Lund University. We are grateful that this is not the case, as Ingvar will carry on, probably for at least one or two more years. Instead, we celebrate Ingvar because he is the main reason for all of us having studied lichenology in Lund. This special issue of The Lichenologist is dedicated to him as a birthday tribute in honour of his long and fruitful lichenological career. The main authors of all the papers in this issue are former students of Ingvar. For several of us he has not only acted as supervisor but later also as the director of the Botanical Museum where we meet him in our daily work.

  • Resource management in Diffserv (RMD) : A functionality and performance behavior overview
  • 2002
  • Ingår i: Protocols for High Speed Networks. - Berlin, Heidelberg : Springer Berlin/Heidelberg. - 9783540436584 - 9783540478287 - 3540436588 ; , s. 17-34
  • Bokkapitel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The flexibility and the wide deployment of IP technologies have driven the development of IP-based solutions for wireless networks, like IP-based Radio Access Networks (RAN). These networks have different characteristics when compared to traditional IP networks, imposing very strict requirements on Quality of Service (QoS) solutions, such as fast dynamic resource reservation, simplicity, scalability, low cost, severe congestion handling and easy implementation. A new QoS framework, called Resource Management in Differentiated Services (RMD), aims to satisfy these requirements. RMD has been introduced in recent publications. It extends the IETF Differentiated Services (Diffserv) architecture with new admission control and resource reservation concepts in a scalable way. This paper gives an overview of the RMD functionality and its performance behavior. Furthermore, it shows that the mean processing delay of RMD signaling reservation, messages is more than 1330 times smaller then the mean processing delay of RSVP signaling reservation messages.
