  • Internet addiction and sleep problems : A systematic review and meta-analysis
  • 2019
  • Ingår i: Sleep Medicine Reviews. - : Elsevier. - 1087-0792 .- 1532-2955. ; 47, s. 51-61
  • Forskningsöversikt (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The pathological use of the internet – conceptualized as ‘internet addiction’ – might be crucial in initiating and increasing sleep disturbances in the community. While inconsistent evidence is reported regarding the association of internet addiction and sleep disturbances, the severity of this association remains unclear. This systematic review and meta-analysis were conducted to increase our understanding of the relationship between internet addiction and sleep disturbances. A systematic review was conducted through Scopus, PubMed Central, ProQuest, ISI Web of Knowledge, and EMBASE using keywords related to internet addiction and sleep problems. Observational studies (cohort, case-control or cross-sectional studies) focusing on association between internet addiction and sleep disturbances including sleep problems and sleep duration were selected. A meta-analysis using random-effect model was conducted to calculate the odds ratio (OR) for experiencing sleep problems and standardized mean differences (SMDs) for sleep duration. Eligible studies (N = 23) included 35,684 participants. The overall pooled OR of having sleep problems if addicted to the internet was 2.20 (95% CI: 1.77–2.74). Additionally, the overall pooled SMDs for sleep duration for the IA group compared to normal internet users was −0.24 (95% CI: −0.38, −0.10). Results of the meta-analysis revealed a significant OR for sleep problems and a significant reduced sleep duration among individuals addicted to the internet.

  • Meta-analysis with systematic review to synthesize associations between oral health related quality of life and anxiety and depression
  • 2024
  • Ingår i: BDJ Open. - : Springer. - 2056-807X. ; 10:1
  • Forskningsöversikt (refereegranskat)abstract
    • ObjectivesThe present systematic review aimed to investigate how oral health related quality of life (OHQOL) associates with anxiety and depression. The study protocol was registered prospectively in the PROSPERO database (CRD42023389372).Materials and methodsStudies investigating associations between OHQOL and depression and/or anxiety were included. Fisher's Z scores were used to summarize associations between OHQOL and depression/anxiety. Funnel plots and Begg's Tests were used to assess publication bias. Meta-regression was conducted to examine potential moderator effects in the associations. Academic databases including the ISI Web of Knowledge, Scopus, ProQuest and PubMed were systematically searched. The quality of included studies was checked with the Newcastle Ottawa Scale (NOS).ResultsAll 15 included studies were cross-sectional (14,419 participants from nine countries; mean age=43.74 years). The pooled estimates showed weak associations between OHQOL and depression (Fisher's z-score of 0.26 [95% CI = 0.17, 0.35; I2 = 96.2%; tau 2 = 0.03]) and anxiety (Fisher's z-score of 0.22 [95% CI = 0.001, 0.43; I2 = 97.9%; tau 2 = 0.06]). No severe problems in methodology quality, publication biases, or moderator effects were observed.ConclusionBoth depression and anxiety were weakly associated with individuals' OHQOL. Although the synthesized associations were not strong, they were significant, indicating that depression and anxiety are potential factors influencing individuals' OHQOL.

  • Self-Employment Or Employment After Exit : The Effect Of An Entrepreneur’s Age And Gender
  • 2013
  • Ingår i: Frontiers of Entrepreneurship Research 2013 : Proceedings of the Thirty-third Annual Entrepreneurship Research Conference. - Boston : Babson College. - 9780910897389 - 0910897387
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Building on career literature, we predict that an entrepreneur’s age at the time of re-entry has a unique and complex non-linear effect on the choice to become self-employed versus employed after an exit. Based on a database covering the whole Swedish population, we studied 79,356 entrepreneurs who experienced exit in a five year window (2000-2004) and we examined their career choice as self-employed versus employed. Our results show an inverted S-shaped curve which follows the career lifecycle stages (early, middle, and late). Also, we demonstrate that gender (man vs. woman) moderate the entrepreneur’s age/re-entry relationship.

  • CFD Assisted Design Evaluation and Experimental Verification of a Logic-Controlled Local PCB Heater for Humidity Management in Electronics Enclosure
  • 2010
  • Ingår i: IEEE EuroSimE 2010, 26-28 April, Bordeaux, France. - 9781424470266
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Humidity management of commercial-of-the-shelf electronic components in non-controlled climatic environments can be realized e.g. by introducing a local printed circuit board heater. By choosing appropriate size and location of the heater plate in the vicinity of the critical electronic packages, and utilizing logic control function, it is possible to improve the quality of local humidity management and reduce power consumption of the heater, which is important especially in case of battery driven portable or vehicle mounted devices. A computational fluid dynamics assisted methodology has been developed to determine the best feasible design of the heater, followed by experimental verification of the constructed logic controlled heater. The experiment has been performed in a harsh climatic environment including temperature variation from +33°C to +40°C, and relative humidity variation from 54% to 80%. Analysis of the experimental %RH and temperature curves as well as power profile of the heater has confirmed the feasibility of the chosen approach to maintain greater than 9°C difference between the electronics package surface temperature and the local dew point temperature, by applying discrete power pulses with the amplitude less than 6 W.

  • Experimental and CFD evaluation of active anti-condensation methods for non-hermetic cabinets
  • 2018
  • Ingår i: 2018 19th International Conference on Thermal, Mechanical and Multi-Physics Simulation and Experiments in Microelectronics and Microsystems (EuroSimE). - : Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). - 9781538623596 ; , s. 1-6
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Experimental evaluation of several active anti-condensation methods for application in non-hermetic electronics enclosures was performed in harsh climatic conditions, including RH = 70% and T = 43 °C. The studied methods included blowing the air along the exposed surface, combination of blowing and air heating as well as local heating of the exposed surface in natural convection conditions. The purpose was to prevent/remove the dew on/from the exposed surface of a micro-condensation sensor. The difference between the methods was quantified in terms of time for dew removal. The power consumption aspects were discussed. A CFD based optimization methodology was developed to determine the heating profiles for the local anti-condensation PCB heater in a non-hermetic cabinet exposed to the quickly changing climatic conditions. The potential for 60% energy savings was revealed by simulation.

  • Founders’ Prior Shared International Experience, Time to First Foreign Market Entry, and New Venture Performance
  • 2022
  • Ingår i: Journal of Management. - : Sage Publications. - 0149-2063 .- 1557-1211. ; 48:8, s. 2349-2381
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • We examine the influence of founders’ prior shared international experience on the timing of their new ventures’ first entry into foreign markets. We propose that this experience, which is gained by founders working concurrently for the same international firm prior to the founding of the current company, provides them with shared knowledge and routines that they can use to enter foreign markets for the first time earlier in the venture’s life. Further, we propose that founders’ diversity strengthens this relationship, because diverse groups of founders have a broader range of knowledge, skills, and perspectives, which facilitates the adaptation of their prior shared international experience to their new venture setting. This is likely to further reduce the time it takes them to enter foreign markets for the first time. We also argue that industry dynamism weakens the relationship between founders’ prior shared international experience and the time to first foreign market entry, because this type of experience is likely to become obsolete in a rapidly changing environment. Finally, we hypothesize that early internationalizers enjoy higher performance than late internationalizers. We test these predictions using a sample of Swedish new ventures. Our results contribute to the literatures on founders’ shared experience and early internationalization.

  • Founding conditions and the survival of new firms : An imprinting perspective on founders, organizational members and external environments
  • 2016
  • Doktorsavhandling (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
    • New firms are important sources of new employment, economic growth and innovation. Yet, a large portion of them do not manage to survive their first years of existence. This is often linked to their initial lack of capabilities, resources, routines and legitimacy. Certain favorable conditions at founding may allow new firms to partially overcome these initial shortcomings, and help them survive. For instance, organizational members’ prior experience may provide knowledge and skills to the new firm. However, it may also act as a constraint. It can lead new firms to follow a prescribed way of doing things which may ultimately threaten their survival. Similarly, certain unfavorable conditions of the external environment at founding may paradoxically offer a fertile ground for new firms to nurture their survival. Thus, whether some founding conditions are good or bad for new firms is still an unanswered question.Building on imprinting theory, this dissertation investigates how different founding conditions affect the survival of new firms. At the organizational level, I study founders’ prior working experience in an incumbent family firm, organizational members’ prior shared international experience and prior industry experience, and focus respectively on three types of new firms: entrepreneurial spawns, international new ventures and high/mid-high tech new firms. I use a matched employer-employee dataset to test the effect of different types of prior experience on new firm survival. At the environment level, I propose how population density of similar organizational forms and the mortality of generalist organizations at founding may affect the survival of new family firms.

  • Industry knowledge, prior industry experience and new venture survival
  • Annan publikation (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
    • Recent research suggests that new ventures can overcome threats to their survival by gaining access to technological knowledge from other firms in their industry even without directly transacting with them or joining their networks. This access can be obtained through vicarious learning that allows new ventures to benefit from spillovers of industry knowledge made public through patents. However, absorbing industry knowledge can be difficult for new ventures. On the one hand, new ventures have different absorptive capacities as a result of their organizational members’ prior experience within the current industry and across different industries. On the other hand, industries differ in the characteristics of their public technological knowledge (i.e., intensity and breadth). We propose that the intensity and breadth of an industry’s public technological knowledge interact with organizational members’ prior industry experience to determine the ability of new ventures to learn vicariously, affecting the likelihood of venture survival. Our results show that having prior experience in the same industry is beneficial for new venture survival when the technological knowledge within an industry is high in intensity and breadth, while prior experience across different industries is beneficial when this knowledge is low in intensity and breadth. This study contributes to the literature on prior industry experience, organizational learning, absorptive capacity and new venture survival.

  • Psychometric properties of Postpartum Partner Support Scale—Persian version
  • 2021
  • Ingår i: Nursing Open. - : John Wiley & Sons. - 2054-1058. ; 8:4, s. 1688-1695
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Aim: The aim of the present study was to translate the Postpartum Partner Support Scale (PPSS) into Persian and evaluate its psychometric properties among postpartum women.Design: A total of 248 women aged 18–39 years participated in this psychometric study. The PPSS was translated into Persian using a forward-backward method. Confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) and Rasch model analysis were used to assess the psychometric properties of the PPSS. In addition, the Edinburgh Postpartum Depression Scale (EPDS) was completed simultaneously to assess the construct validity. Internal consistency of the questionnaire was assessed by calculating the Cronbach's alpha coefficient and corrected item-total correlation. Results: The unidimensionality of the PPSS was supported in both CFA and Rasch analysis. The PPSS had a significant negative association with EPDS (r = −0.39 p <.001). The scale had excellent internal consistency (Cronbach's alpha = 0.94) and the correlation between items and total score was satisfactory. Conclusion: The Persian version of PPSS with 20 items is a valid and reliable scale to assess postpartum support.
