  • A Preliminary Study on Waveform Candidates for 5G Mobile Radio Communications Above 6 GHz
  • 2016
  • Ingår i: IEEE Vehicular Technology Conference. - 1550-2252.
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • This paper provides an overview and preliminary comparison of several multi-carrier and single-carrier waveforms that are potential candidates for future 5G mobile radio communications above 6 GHz. The waveforms are assessed primarily based on the established and known results as well as recent findings keeping in view the design requirements that are relevant to using frequencies above 6 GHz, especially the millimeter wave frequencies. The Key Performance Indicators and degrees of freedom in the design of different waveforms and their potential applications for mm-wave communications are discussed. Certain features that are particularly interesting for mm-wave communication and require further investigations are also highlighted. Furthermore, a common framework for synthesizing different waveform candidates has been developed. Finally, a preliminary qualitative comparison of different multicarrier and single carrier waveforms has been derived.

  • Initial multi-node and antenna transmitter and receiver architectures and schemes; Deliverable D5.1
  • 2016
  • Rapport (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
    • This deliverable provides the initial concepts and solutions from the technical work related to multi-antenna and multi-node transceiver schemes in millimetre wave (denoted as 6-100GHz) spectrum. It also briefly presents the use cases on which the work will be based and categorises the solutions in terms of their applicability to access, backhaul and relay deployments. Another important contribution from this report is the modelling of the hardware impairments in millimetre wave transceivers and the analysis of their impact on system performance.

  • Wideband spatial channel model for MIMO systems at 5 GHz in indoor and outdoor environments
  • 2006
  • Ingår i: IEEE Vehicular Technology Conference. ; , s. 2916-2921
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • This work presents a spatial channel model developed within the EC WINNER1 project. The channel model is mainly based on double-directional measurement campaigns carried out in the 5 GHz ISM 2 band with bandwidths of up to 120 MHz. The model is based on a unified structure for indoor and outdoor environment. It covers 6 different propagation scenarios, namely indoor small office, indoor hall, urban microcell, urban macrocell, suburban macrocell, and rural environment. Both line-of-sight (LOS) and non-line-of-sight (NLOS) propagation conditions are modeled.

  • Workshop in visual ergonomics
  • 2013
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Increased use of computers is common across many work sectors. Prolonged near work at a computer screen is associated with both visual discomfort and neck/shoulder discomfort and pain. Inadequate visual ergonomics at a computer workstation can also influence both visual and neck/shoulder discomfort. The new provision from the Swedish Work Environment Authority on prevention of musculoskeletal disorders includes risk assessment of occupational visual conditions. These assessments require practitioners to have knowledge of the topic, as well as experience with practical assessment tools. The first part of the workshop proposed here will involve a presentation of the theories underlying visual ergonomic practices and a discussion of the most important factors to assess at a computer workstation. These factors include contrast, font size, resolution, glare, reflexion, non-visual flicker, and edge sharpness. The second part of the workshop, will allow participants hands-on practice in measuring and evaluating visual ergonomics at a computer workstation.

  • Near-Surface Imaging of the Multicomponent Gas Phase above a Silver Catalyst during Partial Oxidation of Methanol
  • 2021
  • Ingår i: ACS Catalysis. - : American Chemical Society (ACS). - 2155-5435. ; 11:1, s. 155-168
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Fundamental chemistry in heterogeneous catalysis is increasingly explored using operando techniques in order to address the pressure gap between ultrahigh vacuum studies and practical operating pressures. Because most operando experiments focus on the surface and surface-bound species, there is a knowledge gap of the near-surface gas phase and the fundamental information the properties of this region convey about catalytic mechanisms. We demonstrate in situ visualization and measurement of gas-phase species and temperature distributions in operando catalysis experiments using complementary near-surface optical and mass spectrometry techniques. The partial oxidation of methanol over a silver catalyst demonstrates the value of these diagnostic techniques at 600 Torr (800 mbar) pressure and temperatures from 150 to 410 °C. Planar laser-induced fluorescence provides two-dimensional images of the formaldehyde product distribution that show the development of the boundary layer above the catalyst under different flow conditions. Raman scattering imaging provides measurements of a wide range of major species, such as methanol, oxygen, nitrogen, formaldehyde, and water vapor. Near-surface molecular beam mass spectrometry enables simultaneous detection of all species using a gas sampling probe. Detection of gas-phase free radicals, such as CH3 and CH3O, and of minor products, such as acetaldehyde, dimethyl ether, and methyl formate, provides insights into catalytic mechanisms of the partial oxidation of methanol. The combination of these techniques provides a detailed picture of the coupling between the gas phase and surface in heterogeneous catalysis and enables parametric studies under different operating conditions, which will enhance our ability to constrain microkinetic models of heterogeneous catalysis.
