  • A 9-band WCDMA/EDGE transceiver supporting HSPA evolution
  • 2011
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The future of cellular radio ICs lies in the integration of an ever-increasing number of bands and channel bandwidths. This paper presents a transceiver together with the associated discrete front-end components. The transceiver supports 4 EDGE bands and 9 WCDMA bands (l-VI and Vlll-X), while the radio can be configured to simultaneously support the 4 EDGE bands and up to 5 WCDMA bands: 3 high bands (HB) and 2 low bands (LB). The RX is a SAW-less homodyne composed of a main RX and a diversity RX. To reduce package complexity with so many bands, we chose to minimize the number of ports by using single-ended RF interfaces for both RX and TX. This saves seve ral package pins, but requires careful attention to grounding. The main RX has 8 LNA ports and the diversity RX has 5, with some LNAs supporting multiple bands. On the TX side, 2 ports are used for all EDGE bands and 4 for the WCDMA bands.

  • Somatostatin Receptors in the Diagnosis and Therapy of Neuroendocrine Tumor.
  • 1997
  • Ingår i: The oncologist. - 1549-490X. ; 2:1, s. 50-58
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The expression of somatostatin receptors in neuroendocrine tumors has facilitated the diagnosis and surgical treatment of patients with these tumors. After injection of a radiolabeled long-acting somatostatin analog, (111)In-octreotide, scintigraphic tumor imaging can ben performed as well as intraoperative tumor localization. During localization studies very high (111)In concentration values were found in tumor tissues versus normal tissues, especially in carcinoid tumors and endocrine pancreatic tumors. Studies on such tumors in cell culture further indicated internalization of (111)In into tumor cells, which is a prerequisite for a radiobiological effect from short range Auger and conversion electrons. Attempts to systemic radionuclide therapy via somatostatin receptors in patients with neuroendocrine tumors have been initiated.

  • Opposing Effects of Circadian Clock Genes Bmal1 and Period2 in Regulation of VEGF-Dependent Angiogenesis in Developing Zebrafish
  • 2012
  • Ingår i: Cell Reports. - Elsevier (Cell Press). - 2211-1247. ; 2:2, s. 231-241
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Molecular mechanisms underlying circadian-regulated physiological processes remain largely unknown. Here, we show that disruption of the circadian clock by both constant exposure to light and genetic manipulation of key genes in zebrafish led to impaired developmental angiogenesis. A bmal1-specific morpholino inhibited developmental angiogenesis in zebrafish embryos without causing obvious nonvascular phenotypes. Conversely, a period2 morpholino accelerated angiogenic vessel growth, suggesting that Bmal1 and Period2 display opposing angiogenic effects. Using a promoter-reporter system consisting of various deleted vegf-promoter mutants, we show that Bmal1 directly binds to and activates the vegf promoter via E-boxes. Additionally, we provide evidence that knockdown of Bmal1 leads to impaired Notch-inhibition-induced vascular sprouting. These results shed mechanistic insight on the role of the circadian clock in regulation of developmental angiogenesis, and our findings may be reasonably extended to other types of physiological or pathological angiogenesis.

  • Systemic radionuclide therapy using indium-111-DTPA-D-Phe1-octreotide in midgut carcinoid syndrome.
  • 1996
  • Ingår i: Journal of nuclear medicine : official publication, Society of Nuclear Medicine. - 0161-5505. ; 37:9, s. 1519-21
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • A 55-yr-old woman with a midgut carcinoid syndrome due to metastatic spread of an ileal tumor to the liver, paraortic and mediastinal lymph nodes and to the skeleton was given systemic radionuclide therapy with 111In-DTPA-D-Phe1-octreotide. Before therapy, dosimetric calculations were performed on whole-body scintigraphs and 111In retention was shown to be long-lasting. Excretion was mainly seen during the first 24 hr after injection; thereafter whole-body retention remained stationary at 30%. Indium-111 activity in tumor biopsies and blood was measured using a gamma counter. Very high tumor-to-blood ratios were obtained: 150 for the primary tumor and 400-650 for liver metastases, which further justified radiation therapy. Indium-111-DTPA-D-Phe1-octreotide treatment was given on three separate occasions (3.0, 3.5 and 3.1 GBq) 8 and 4 wk apart. After each therapy, the patient experienced facial flush and pain over the skeletal lesions followed by symptomatic relief, even though no objective tumor regression was found radiologically after 5 mo. After initiation of octreotide treatment, there was a 14% reduction of the main tumor marker, urinary 5-HIAA. After three subsequent radionuclide therapies, there was a further 31% reduction of 5-HIAA levels. No adverse reactions, other than a slight decrease in leukocyte counts, were seen. The mean absorbed radiation dose after the three treatments was estimated to be about 10-12 Gy in liver metastases and 3-6 Gy in other tumors, depending on the size and location of the metastases. Assuming internalization of 111In into tumor cells and a radiobiological effect from short range Auger and conversion electrons, there might be a therapeutic effect on the tumor.

  • Adaptiv reglering av verktygsvibrationer i svarvoperationen
  • 1998
  • Ingår i: Teknologiskt Integrerade Detaljtillverkningssystem.
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract

  • Age related changes in brain metabolites observed by 1H MRS in APP/PS1 mice
  • 2008
  • Ingår i: Neurobiology of Aging. - 0197-4580. ; 29:9, s. 1423-1433
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Translational biomarkers in Alzheimer's disease based on non-invasive in vivo methods are highly warranted. (1)H magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS) is non-invasive and applicable in vivo in both humans and experimental animals. In vivo(1)H MRS and 3D MRI were performed on brains of double transgenic (tg) mice expressing a double mutant human beta-amyloid precursor protein APP(K670N,M671L) and human mutated presenilin gene PS1M146L, and wild-type (wt) littermates at 2.5, 6.5 and 9 months of age using a 9.4T magnet. For quantification, LCModel was used, and the data were analyzed using multivariate data analysis (MVDA). MVDA evidenced a significant separation, which became more pronounced with age, between tg and wt mice at all time points. While myo-inositol and guanidoacetate were important for group separation in young mice, N-acetylaspartate, glutamate and macrolipids were important for separation of aged tg and wt mice. Volume segmentation revealed that brain and hippocampus were readily smaller in tg as compared to wt mice at the age of 2.5 months. Amyloid plaques were seen in 6.5 and 9 months, but not in 2.5 months old animals. In conclusion, differences in brain metabolites could be accurately depicted in tg and wt mice in vivo by combining MRS with MVDA. First differences in metabolite content were readily seen at 2.5 months, when volume defects in tg mice were present, but no amyloid plaques.
