  • Dark photon search in the mass range between 1.5 and 3.4 GeV/c
  • 2017
  • Ingår i: Physics Letters B. - : Elsevier BV. - 0370-2693 .- 1873-2445. ; 774, s. 252-257
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Using a data set of 2.93 fb taken at a center-of-mass energy root s = 3.773 GeV with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider, we perform a search for an extra U(1) gauge boson, also denoted as a dark photon. We examine the initial state radiation reactions e(+)e(-) -> e(+)e(-) gamma(ISR) and e(+)e(-) -> mu(+)mu(-) gamma(ISR) for this search, where the dark photon would appear as an enhancement in the invariant mass distribution of the leptonic pairs. We observe no obvious enhancement in the mass range between 1.5 and 3.4 GeV/c(2) and set a 90% confidence level upper limit on the mixing strength of the dark photon and the Standard Model photon. We obtain a competitive limit in the tested mass range.

  • Determination of the number of J/psi events with inclusive J/psi decays
  • 2017
  • Ingår i: Chinese Physics C. - : IOP Publishing. - 1674-1137 .- 2058-6132. ; 41:1
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • A measurement of the number of J/psi events collected with the BESIII detector in 2009 and 2012 is performed using inclusive decays of the J/psi. The number of J/psi events taken in 2009 is recalculated to be (223.7 +/- 1.4) x 10(6), which is in good agreement with the previous measurement, but with significantly improved precision due to improvements in the BESIII software. The number of J/psi events taken in 2012 is determined to be (1086.9 +/- 6.0) x 10(6). In total, the number of J/psi events collected with the BESIII detector is measured to be (1310.6 +/- 7.0) x 10(6), where the uncertainty is dominated by systematic effects and the statistical uncertainty is negligible.

  • Isoscalar single-pion production in the region of Roper and d*(2380) resonances
  • 2017
  • Ingår i: Physics Letters B. - : ELSEVIER SCIENCE BV. - 0370-2693 .- 1873-2445. ; 774, s. 599-607
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Exclusive measurements of the quasi-free pn -> pp pi(-) and pp -> pp pi(0) reactions have been performed by means of pd collisions at T-p= 1.2 GeV using the WASA detector setup at COSY. Total and differential cross sections have been obtained covering the energy region T-p= 0.95-1.3 GeV (root s = 2.3-2.46 GeV), which includes the regions of triangle(1232), N*(1440) and d*(2380) resonance excitations. From these measurements the isoscalar single-pion production has been extracted, for which data existed so far only below T-p = 1 GeV. We observe a substantial increase of this cross section around 1 GeV, which can be related to the Roper resonance N*(1440), the strength of which shows up isolated from the triangle resonance in the isoscalar (N pi)(I=0) invariant-mass spectrum. No evidence for a decay of the dibaryon resonance d*(2380) into the isoscalar (NN pi)(I=0) channel is found. An upper limit of 180 mu b (90% CL.) corresponding to a branching ratio of 9% has been deduced.

  • Measurement of the ω → π+π−π0 Dalitz plot distribution : The WASA-at-COSY Collaboration
  • 2017
  • Ingår i: Physics Letters B. - : Elsevier BV. - 0370-2693 .- 1873-2445. ; 770, s. 418-425
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Using the production reactions pd -> He-3 omega and pp -> pp omega, the Dalitz plot distribution for the omega -> pi(+)pi(-)pi(0)decay is studied with the WASA detector at COSY, based on a combined data sample of (4.408 +/- 0.042) x 10(4) events. The Dalitz plot density is parametrised by a product of the P-wave phase space and a polynomial expansion in the normalised polar Dalitz plot variables Z and phi. For the first time, a deviation from pure P-wave phase space is observed with a significance of 4.1 sigma. The deviation is parametrised by a linear term 1+2 alpha Z, with alpha determined to be +0.147 +/- 0.036, consistent with the expectations of rho-meson-type final-state interactions of the P-wave pion pairs. • Search for eta-mesic He-4 in the dd -> (3)Hen pi(0) and dd -> (3)Hep pi(-) reactions with the WASA-at-COSY facility
  • 2017
  • Ingår i: Nuclear Physics A. - : ELSEVIER SCIENCE BV. - 0375-9474 .- 1873-1554. ; 959, s. 102-115
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The search for He-4-eta bound states was performed with the WASA-at-COSY facility via the measurement of the excitation function for the dd -> (3)Hen pi(0) and dd -> (3)Hep pi(-) processes. The deuteron beam momentum was varied continuously between 2.127 GeV/c and 2.422 GeV/c, corresponding to the excess energy for the dd -> He-4 eta reaction ranging from Q = 70 MeV to Q = 30 MeV. The luminosity was determined based on the dd -> (3)Hen reaction and the quasi-free proton proton scattering via dd -> ppn(spectator)n(spectator) reactions. The excitation functions, determined independently for the measured reactions, do not reveal a structure which could be interpreted as a narrow mesic nucleus. Therefore, the upper limits of the total cross sections for the bound state production and decay in dd -> (4He-eta)(bound) -> (3)Hen pi(0) and dd -> (He-4-eta)(bound) -> (3)Hep pi(-) processes were determined taking into account the isospin relation between the both of the considered channels. The results of the analysis depend on the assumptions of the N* (1535) momentum distribution in the anticipated mesic-He-4. Assuming, as in the previous works, that this is identical with the distribution of nucleons bound with 20 MeV in He-4, we determined that (for the mesic bound state width in the range from 5 MeV to 50 MeV) the upper limits at 90% confidence level are about 3 nb and about 6 nb for n pi(0) and p pi(-) channels, respectively. However, based on the recent theoretical findings of the N*(1535) momentum distribution in the N*-He-3 nucleus bound by 3.6 MeV, we find that the WASA-at-COSY detector acceptance decreases and hence the corresponding upper limits are 5 nb and 10 nb for n pi(0) and p pi(-) channels respectively. • Ground-state configuration of neutron-rich Al-35 via Coulomb breakup
  • 2017
  • Ingår i: Physical Review C. - 2469-9985 .- 2469-9993. ; 96:3, s. 1965-
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The ground-state configuration of Al-35 has been studied via Coulomb dissociation (CD) using the LAND-FRS setup (GSI, Darmstadt) at a relativistic energy of similar to 403 MeV/nucleon. The measured inclusive differential CD cross section for Al-35, integrated up to 5.0 MeV relative energy between the Al-34 core and the neutron using a Pb target, is 78(13) mb. The exclusive measured CD cross section that populates various excited states of 34Al is 29(7) mb. The differential CD cross section of Al-35 -> Al-34 + n has been interpreted in the light of a direct breakup model, and it suggests that the possible ground-state spin and parity of Al-35 could be, tentatively, 1/2+ or 3/2(+) or 5/2(+). The valence neutrons, in the ground state of Al-35, may occupy a combination of either l = 3,0 or l = 1,2 orbitals coupled with the Al-34 core in the ground and isomeric state(s), respectively. This hints of a particle-hole configuration of the neutron across the magic shell gaps at N = 20,28 which suggests narrowing the magic shell gap. If the 5/2+ is the ground-state spin-parity of Al-35 as suggested in the literature, then the major ground-state configuration of Al-35 is a combination of Al-34(g. s.; 4(-)) circle times upsilon(p3/2) and Al-34(isomer; 1(+)) circle times upsilon(d3/2) states. The result from this experiment has been compared with that from a previous knockout measurement and a calculation using the SDPF-M interaction.

  • Effective proton-neutron interaction near the drip line from unbound states in F-25,F-26
  • 2017
  • Ingår i: Physical Review C. - 2469-9985 .- 2469-9993. ; 96:5
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Background: Odd-odd nuclei, around doubly closed shells, have been extensively used to study proton-neutron interactions. However, the evolution of these interactions as a function of the binding energy, ultimately when nuclei become unbound, is poorly known. The F-26 nucleus, composed of a deeply bound pi 0d(5/2) proton and an unbound v0d(3/2) neutron on top of an O-24 core, is particularly adapted for this purpose. The coupling of this proton and neutron results in a J(pi) = 1(1)(+) - 4(1)(+) multiplet, whose energies must be determined to study the influence of the proximity of the continuum on the corresponding proton-neutron interaction. The J(pi) = 1(1)(+), 2(1)(+), 4(1)(+) bound states have been determined, and only a clear identification of the J(pi) = 3(1)(+) is missing. Purpose: We wish to complete the study of the J(pi) = 1(1)(+) - 4(1)(+) multiplet in F-26, by studying the energy and width of the J(pi) = 3(1)(+) unbound state. The method was first validated by the study of unbound states in F-25, for which resonances were already observed in a previous experiment. Method: Radioactive beams of Ne-26 and Ne-27, produced at about 440AMeV by the fragment separator at the GSI facility were used to populate unbound states in F-25 and F-26 via one-proton knockout reactions on a CH2 target, located at the object focal point of the (RB)-B-3/LAND setup. The detection of emitted. rays and neutrons, added to the reconstruction of the momentum vector of the A - 1 nuclei, allowed the determination of the energy of three unbound states in F-25 and two in F-26. Results: Based on its width and decay properties, the first unbound state in F-25, at the relative energy of 49(9) keV, is proposed to be a J(pi) = 1/ 2(-) arising from a p1/2 proton- hole state. In F-26, the first resonance at 323(33) keV is proposed to be the J(pi) = 3(1)(+) member of the J(pi) = 1(1)(+) - 4(1)(+) multiplet. Energies of observed states in F-25,F-26 have been compared to calculations using the independent-particle shell model, a phenomenological shell model, and the ab initio valence-space in-medium similarity renormalization group method. Conclusions: The deduced effective proton- neutron interaction is weakened by about 30-40% in comparison to the models, pointing to the need for implementing the role of the continuum in theoretical descriptions or to a wrong determination of the atomic mass of F-26.

  • Amplitude analysis of D0 → K -π+π+π-
  • 2017
  • Ingår i: Physical Review D. - 2470-0010 .- 2470-0029. ; 95:7
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • We present an amplitude analysis of the decay D0 → K -π+π+π- based on a data sample of 2.93  fb−1 acquired by the BESIII detector at the ψ(3770) resonance. With a nearly background free sample of about 16000 events, we investigate the substructure of the decay and determine the relative fractions and the phases among the different intermediate processes. Our amplitude model includes the two-body decays D0 → ¯K*0ρ0, D0 → K−a+1(1260) and D0 → K−1(1270)π+, the three-body decays D0 →¯K*0π+π− and D0 → K−π+ρ0, as well as the four-body nonresonant decay D0 → K−π+π+π−. The dominant intermediate process is D0 → K−a+1(1260), accounting for a fit fraction of 54.6%.
