  • Study of 19Na at SPIRAL
  • 2005
  • Ingår i: European Physical Journal A. - : Springer Science and Business Media LLC. - 1434-601X .- 1434-6001. ; 24:2, s. 237-247
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The excitation function for the elastic-scattering reaction p( 18 Ne, p) 18 Ne was measured with the first radioactive beam from the SPIRAL facility at the GANIL laboratory and with a solid cryogenic hydrogen target. Several broad resonances have been observed, corresponding to new excited states in the unbound nucleus 19 Na. In addition, two-proton emission events have been identified and are discussed.

  • Disappearance of the N=14 shell gap in the carbon isotopic chain
  • 2008
  • Ingår i: Physical Review C. Nuclear Physics. - 0556-2813 .- 1089-490X. ; 78:3
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The structure of C-17-20(6) nuclei was investigated by means of the in-beam gamma-ray spectroscopy technique using fragmentation reactions of radioactive beams. Based on particle-gamma and particle-gamma gamma coincidence data, level schemes are constructed for the neutron-rich C17-20 nuclei. The systematics of the first excited 2(+) states in the carbon isotopes is extended for the first time to A = 20 showing that in contrast to the case of the oxygen isotopes, the N = 14 subshell closure disappears. Experimental results are compared with shell-model calculations. Agreement between them is found only if a reduced neutron-neutron effective interaction is used. Implications of this reduced interaction in some properties of weakly bound neutron-rich Carbon are discussed.

  • Evidence of triggered star formation in G327.3-0.6. Dust-continuum mapping of an infrared dark cloud with P-ArTéMiS
  • 2009
  • Ingår i: Astronomy and Astrophysics. - : EDP Sciences. - 0004-6361 .- 1432-0746. ; 501, s. L1-L4
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Aims: Expanding HII regions and propagating shocks are common in the environment of young high-mass star-forming complexes. They can compress a pre-existing molecular cloud and trigger the formation of dense cores. We investigate whether these phenomena can explain the formation of high-mass protostars within an infrared dark cloud located at the position of G327.3-0.6 in the Galactic plane, in between two large infrared bubbles and two HII regions. Methods: The region of G327.3-0.6 was imaged at 450 μ m with the CEA P-ArTéMiS bolometer array on the Atacama Pathfinder EXperiment telescope in Chile. APEX/LABOCA and APEX-2A, and Spitzer/IRAC and MIPS archives data were used in this study. Results: Ten massive cores were detected in the P-ArTéMiS image, embedded within the infrared dark cloud seen in absorption at both 8 and 24 μm. Their luminosities and masses indicate that they form high-mass stars. The kinematical study of the region suggests that the infrared bubbles expand toward the infrared dark cloud. Conclusions: Under the influence of expanding bubbles, star formation occurs in the infrared dark areas at the border of HII regions and infrared bubbles.

  • Ink4c is dispensable for tumor suppression in Myc-induced B-cell lymphomagenesis
  • 2007
  • Ingår i: Oncogene. - Basingstoke : Macmillan Press. - 0950-9232 .- 1476-5594. ; 26:20, s. 2833-2839
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • p18(Ink4c) functions as a dedicated inhibitor of cyclin-D-dependent kinases. Loss of Ink4c predisposes mice to tumor development and, in a dose-dependent manner, complements the tumor-promoting effects of various oncogenes. We have now addressed whether Ink4c loss impacts B-cell tumor development in the Emu-Myc transgenic mouse, a model of human Burkitt lymphoma. Loss of one or both alleles did not influence the onset of lymphoma in Emu-Myc transgenics, and did not appreciably affect Myc's proliferative or apoptotic responses in precancerous B cells. Nevertheless, Ink4c loss modulated the effects of Myc-induced transformation by decreasing the frequency of Arf loss, an ordinarily common event in Emu-Myc-induced lymphomas.

  • Treatment of severe von Willebrand disease with a high-purity von Willebrand factor concentrate (Wilfactin (R)): a prospective study of 50 patients
  • 2007
  • Ingår i: Journal of Thrombosis and Haemostasis. - : Elsevier BV. - 1538-7933 .- 1538-7836. ; 5:6, s. 1115-1124
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Background and objectives: A plasma-derived von Willebrand factor (VWF) concentrate with low factor VIII (FVIII) content was specifically developed to treat von Willebrand disease (VWD). Efficacy and safety were investigated by merging the results of two comparable protocols conducted prospectively in 5 European and 12 French centers. Methods and results: Fifty patients with clinically severe VWD (72% had VWF ristocetin cofactor activity less than 10 IU dL(-1) and 46% had FVIII < 20 IU dL(-1)) were treated with the concentrate as the only therapy, except for clinical situations requiring a priming dose of FVIII to rapidly correct an intrinsic coagulation defect. A total of 139 spontaneous bleeding episodes were treated; only 53 (38%) needed a concomitant FVIII dose. Outcome was excellent or good in 89% of the episodes. Forty-four patients underwent 108 surgical or invasive procedures. Outcome was excellent or good in 95 scheduled procedures (only VWF was infused) and 13 emergency procedures (a priming FVIII dose was co-administered with the first VWF infusion). There were no thrombotic complications and none of the 18 patients with type 3 VWD developed anti-VWF or anti-FVIII antibodies. Conclusions. This concentrate safely and effectively provides hemostasis in patients with clinically severe VWD.
