  • Search for eta(c)(2S)h(c) -> p(p)over-bar decays and measurements of the chi(cJ) -> p(p)over-bar branching fractions
  • 2013
  • Ingår i: Physical Review D. - 1550-7998 .- 1550-2368. ; 88:11, s. 112001-
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Using a sample of 1.06 x 10(8)psi(3686) events collected with the BESIII detector at BEPCII, the decays eta(c)(2S) -> p (p) over bar and h(c) -> p (p) over bar are searched for, where eta(c)(2S) and h(c) are reconstructed in the decay chains psi(3686) -> gamma eta(c)(2S), eta(c)(2S) -> p (p) over bar and psi(3686) -> pi(0)h(c), h(c) -> p (p) over bar, respectively. No significant signals are observed. The upper limits of the product branching fractions are determined to be B(psi(3686) -> gamma eta(c)(2S)) x B(eta(c)(2S) -> p (p) over bar) < 1.4 x 10(-6) and B(psi(3686) -> pi(0)h(c)) x B(h(c) -> p<(p)over bar>) < 1.3 x 10(-7) at the 90% C.L.. The branching fractions for chi(cJ) -> p<(p)over bar> (J = 0, 1, 2) are also measured to be (24.5 +/- 0.8 +/- 1.3, 8.6 +/- 0.5 +/- 0.5, 8.4 +/- 0.5 +/- 0.5) x 10(-5), which are the world's most precise measurements.

  • Genome-wide association analyses in Han Chinese identify two new susceptibility loci for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis
  • 2013
  • Ingår i: Nature Genetics. - : Nature Publishing Group. - 1061-4036 .- 1546-1718. ; 45:6, s. 697-
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • To identify susceptibility genes for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), we conducted a genome-wide association study (GWAS) in 506 individuals with sporadic ALS and 1,859 controls of Han Chinese ancestry. Ninety top SNPs suggested by the current GWAS and 6 SNPs identified by previous GWAS were analyzed in an independent cohort of 706 individuals with ALS and 1,777 controls of Han Chinese ancestry. We discovered two new susceptibility loci for ALS at 1q32 (CAMK1G, rs6703183, P-combined = 2.92 x 10(-8), odds ratio (OR) = 1.31) and 22p11 (CABIN1 and SUSD2, rs8141797, P-combined = 2.35 x 10(-9), OR = 1.52). These two loci explain 12.48% of the overall variance in disease risk in the Han Chinese population. We found no association evidence for the previously reported loci in the Han Chinese population, suggesting genetic heterogeneity of disease susceptibility for ALS between ancestry groups. Our study identifies two new susceptibility loci and suggests new pathogenic mechanisms of ALS.

  • A-Kinase Anchoring Proteins 10 Expression in Relation to 2073A/G Polymorphism and Tumor Progression in Patients with Colorectal Cancer
  • 2013
  • Ingår i: Pathology and Oncology Research. - : Springer Verlag (Germany). - 1219-4956 .- 1532-2807. ; 19:3, s. 521-527
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The cAMP/PKA signalling events regulated by A-kinase anchoring proteins 10 (AKAP10) is involved in tumorigenesis. Previous study showed that AKAP10 polymorphism (2073 A/G, I646V) was associated with colorectal cancer risk. However, there was no literature reporting the role of AKAP10 in the pathogenesis of colorectal cancer. The aim of the study was to investigate the clinicopathologic significance of A-kinase anchoring proteins 10 (AKAP 10) expression and the relationship with its polymorphism in colorectal cancer. The expression of AKAP10 was determined by immunohistochemical staining (IHC) and western blot assay on colorectal cancer (n = 176), adenoma (n = 87) and distant normal mucosa (n  = 72). 176 patients with colorectal cancer were genotyped for AKAP10 2073A/G polymorphism by TaqMan RT-PCR. We found that the positive expression rate of AKAP10 in colorectal cancer (59 %) was significantly higher than those in adenoma (39 %) and distant normal mucosa (42 %) (P = 0.004). There was no significant difference between adenoma and distant normal mucosa (P = 0.741). Positive AKAP10 staining was correlated with deeper tumor invasion (P < 0.001), lymph nodes metastasis (P = 0.022), advanced tumor stage (P < 0.001) and poorly differentiated degree (P  = 0.003). Compared with AA genotype (52 %), positive expression of AKAP10 was significantly increased in colorectal cancer patients with the variant (AG+GG) genotypes (68 %, P = 0.033). It was concluded that AKAP10 may play an important role in the development and progression of colorectal cancer.

  • 2013
  • Ingår i: Nature Genetics. - : Springer Science and Business Media LLC. - 1061-4036 .- 1546-1718. ; 45:10, s. 1113-1120
  • Forskningsöversikt (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) Research Network has profiled and analyzed large numbers of human tumors to discover molecular aberrations at the DNA, RNA, protein and epigenetic levels. The resulting rich data provide a major opportunity to develop an integrated picture of commonalities, differences and emergent themes across tumor lineages. The Pan-Cancer initiative compares the first 12 tumor types profiled by TCGA. Analysis of the molecular aberrations and their functional roles across tumor types will teach us how to extend therapies effective in one cancer type to others with a similar genomic profile. © 2013 Nature America, Inc. • Attenuation of Acute Pancreatitis by Peroxisome Proliferator-Activated Receptor-α in Rats: The Effect on Toll-Like Receptor Signaling Pathways
  • 2013
  • Ingår i: Pancreas. - : Lippincott, Williams and Wilkins. - 0885-3177 .- 1536-4828. ; 42:1, s. 114-122
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Objectives: The peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor-α (PPAR-α) has attracted considerable attention for its anti-inflammatory properties; however, Toll-like receptor (TLR) pathways have an essential proinflammatory role in acute pancreatitis (AP). This study aimed to evaluate the attenuation of inflammation by PPAR-α and to investigate the interaction between PPAR-α and TLR pathways in AP.Methods: Acute pancreatitis was induced in rats by administration of cerulein. The PPAR-α agonist WY14643 and/or antagonist MK886 was administered. The severity of AP was determined by measuring serum amylase, lipase, Ca2+, pathological changes, myeloperoxidase activity, serum levels of interleukin (IL)-6, and intercellular adhesion molecule-1 (ICAM-1). The TLR2 and TLR4 messenger RNA (mRNA) and proteins were determined by real-time reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction and Western blotting, respectively. The mRNA expressions of target molecules of TLR pathways, including IL-6, IL-10, ICAM-1, and tumor necrosis factor α were also measured. Results: Treatment with WY14643 significantly decreased amylase, lipase, myeloperoxidase activity, pathological scores, IL-6, and ICAM-1 levels. The TLR2 and TLR4 mRNA and proteins were markedly decreased after treatment with WY14643, along with IL-6, ICAM-1, and tumor necrosis factor α mRNA levels. However, these effects were completely reversed by the coadministration of MK886.Conclusions: Activation of PPAR-α played a protective role in AP, partially mediated by modulation of TLR pathways.

  • A new IQ detection method for LLRF
  • 2012
  • Ingår i: Nuclear Instruments & Methods in Physics Research. Section A: Accelerators, Spectrometers, Detectors, and Associated Equipment. - : Elsevier BV. - 0167-5087 .- 0168-9002. ; 675, s. 139-143
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Digital LLRF technology has been widely used in new generation particle accelerators. IF quadrature sampling is a common method for amplitude and phase detection. Many strategies, which obey the same rule of f(sample) = (M/N)f(IF) (M/N is a rational number), have been proposed to reduce the effects of spectrum aliasing. However, we found that M/N does not need to be a rational number according to Shannon's theorem. Therefore, we propose a new IQ detection method in this paper. This method is based on a special IIR filter which is derived from an RLC circuit. The unique characteristic of the method is that the value of f(IF) is independent of the value of, f(sample). We have set up an experimental platform to verify our method. A 122.88 MHz sampling clock is used to sample a 3 MHz IF signal. The DOS and PI control techniques are used to realize the closed-loop control. Results show that the stability of the system is within +/- 0.05% (peak to peak) for the amplitude, and with +/- 0.03 degrees (peak to peak) for the phase in 5 h. (C) 2012 Elsevier B.V. • Undetermination of the relation between network synchronizability and betweenness centrality
  • 2011
  • Ingår i: Chinese Physics B. - : IOP Publishing. - 1674-1056. ; 20:4
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Betweenness centrality is taken as a sensible indicator of the synchronizability of complex networks. To test whether betweenness centrality is a proper measure of the synchronizability in specific realizations of random networks, this paper adds edges to the networks and then evaluates the changes of betweenness centrality and network synchronizability. It finds that the two quantities vary independently.

  • TRAF6 as the Key Adaptor of TLR4 Signaling Pathway Is Involved in Acute Pancreatitis
  • 2010
  • Ingår i: PANCREAS. - 0885-3177. ; 39:3, s. 359-366
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Objectives: To study the potential role of tumor necrosis factor receptor-associated factor 6 (TRAF6) as the key adaptor of the toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4) signaling pathway in acute pancreatitis (AP) in mice. Methods: Acute pancreatitis was induced by 7 intraperitoneal injections of cerulein in TLR4-deficient (TLR4-Def) and TLR4 wild-type (TLR4-WT) mice. Inflammatory severity was scored and evaluated based on pathological study. TRAF6 expression was determined by reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction, Western blot, and immunohistochemistry. Results: Acute pancreatitis was successfully induced in both mice strains, but the inflammatory progression was different. In TLR4-Def mice, pancreatic inflammation was blunt and mild first, then became increasingly intensive and peaked at the later stage, whereas in the TLR4-WT mice, the response was fast initiated and peaked at the early stage of AP, then alleviated gradually. TRAF6 expression in TLR4-Def mice was significantly higher than that in the TLR4-WT mice. Immunohistochemistry located TRAF6 expressed mainly in the pancreatic acinar cells. Conclusions: The TLR4-TRAF6 signaling pathway is critically involved in AP. Other signaling pathways beyond TLR4 may participate in the pancreatic inflammatory process via TRAF6. As a convergence point of the TLR4-dependent and the TLR4-independent signaling pathways, TRAF6 plays an important role in AP.

  • Meta-analysis of genome-wide association studies identifies eight new loci for type 2 diabetes in east Asians.
  • 2012
  • Ingår i: Nature Genetics. - : Springer Science and Business Media LLC. - 1061-4036 .- 1546-1718. ; 44:1
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • We conducted a three-stage genetic study to identify susceptibility loci for type 2 diabetes (T2D) in east Asian populations. We followed our stage 1 meta-analysis of eight T2D genome-wide association studies (6,952 cases with T2D and 11,865 controls) with a stage 2 in silico replication analysis (5,843 cases and 4,574 controls) and a stage 3 de novo replication analysis (12,284 cases and 13,172 controls). The combined analysis identified eight new T2D loci reaching genome-wide significance, which mapped in or near GLIS3, PEPD, FITM2-R3HDML-HNF4A, KCNK16, MAEA, GCC1-PAX4, PSMD6 and ZFAND3. GLIS3, which is involved in pancreatic beta cell development and insulin gene expression, is known for its association with fasting glucose levels. The evidence of an association with T2D for PEPD and HNF4A has been shown in previous studies. KCNK16 may regulate glucose-dependent insulin secretion in the pancreas. These findings, derived from an east Asian population, provide new perspectives on the etiology of T2D.
