    • The invention refers to an oxygen reduction electrode comprising at least three layers: a current collector, a diffusion layer comprising at least PTFE; and a catalytical active layer comprising at least a mixture of perovskites and pyrolysed macrocycles. In this way, oxygen may be utilised from air without an initial removal of carbon dioxide. Moreover, the invention refers to methods for preparing the electrode, as well as fuel cells and other products wherein the electrode can be used.

    • The present invention relates to a device and method for increasing the security for a computer or server adapted for communication with a communication network, for example the Internet. The method for automatically controlling access between the computer and the communication network is arranges the access to be dependent on user activity. The user activity is determined by monitoring signal activity between the computer and at least one input/output device adapted for communication with the computer, and the user activity being defined as detection of signal activity between the computer and the input/output device. Access to the communication network is only allowed if user activity is occurring or has occurred in a predetermined time period.

    • The invention discloses a tunable acoustic wave device (100; 200) comprising a piezoelectric material (120; 220) with a tunable dielectric permittivity. The dielectric permittivity of the material is tuned by applying a tuning electric field (190), preferably a DC-bias field, low frequency AC field, pulsed electric field or AC electric field superimposed onto an electric field pulse, thereto. By tuning the dielectric permittivity, the operation characteristics of the device (100; 200), including the acoustic wave velocity in the material (120; 220) and the resonance frequency and bandwidth of the device (100; 200), may be tuned. The tuning electric field (190) may applied by superimposing it onto the input high frequency electric field signal of the device (100; 200) or by applying it over at least a portion of the piezoelectric material (120; 220). A piezoelectric material (120; 220) with a tunable dielectric permittivity can be found in ceramic crystalline superparaelectric materials, e.g. perovskite niobates-tantalates.

    • The present invention relates to improved multiple access communications. In one form, the invention relates to an improved signal processing method and apparatus for an iterative method of determining the reception of a signal in a multi user packet based wireless OFDM (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) communication system. In other forms the present invention provides recursive filtering for joint iterative decoding in a variety of systems and functions such as linear multiple access channel decoders, iterative equalisation, iterative joint channel estimation and detection/decoding, iterative space-time processing, iterative multi user interference cancellation and iterative demodulation.; In one particular form the present invention provides an iterative decoding circuit for a wireless multiuser communications receiver comprising a first signal processing means for receiving at least one received signal, said first signal processing means comprising at least two linear iterative filters such that the first linear iterative filter provides an estimate of a selected received signal to an estimated signal output and a second linear iterative filter provides estimates of at least one other received signal, delayed by one iteration cycle, to an input of said first linear iterative filter, a second signal processing means for receiving the estimated signal output of the first linear iterative filter and providing a further received signal estimate to the input of the first signal processing means in a succeeding iteration cycle of the decoding circuit.

    • The invention is an iterative signal processing arrangement having one or more pairs of first and second signal processing components. These pairs are in iterative configuration with each of the first signal processing components having as its input one or more received signals dependent upon one or more transmitted signals. For each said signal processing component pair the output of said first signal processing component is an estimate of a characteristic of a selected transmitted signal based on the current and one or more previous input signals received by said first signal processing component. This estimate is input to said corresponding second signal processing component which provides a further estimate of said selected transmitted signal. The outputs of all said second components of respective pairs are input to their corresponding first components in a succeeding iteration cycle.

    • The detector (20) includes several adjacent detector elements each defining a limited detection area and each being configured to produce an individual current dependent upon the radiaiton dose in each respective area. A means (34-36) is provided for measuring each individual current to obtain data used to create an expression over the dose distribution in at least two dimensions. A radiation detector unit for determining the radiation dose distribution or rate from at least one radiation source (2) comprises a detector in which a current induced by the radiation source is dependent on the dose, and a means for measuring the induced current. The detector includes several adjacent detector elements each defining a limited detection area and each being configured to produce an individual current dependent upon the radiaton dose in each respective area. A means is provided for measuring each individual current to obtain data used to create an expression over the dose distribution in at least two dimensions. Independent claims are also included for (a) a radiation dose detection system for verification or calibration of radiosurgical equipment, comprising one or more radiation sources, a control system, a means for registering radiation doses, a means for combining the doses to generate a dose distribution, and the above detector unit, and (b) a method for generating a three-dimensional radiation dose distribution from at least one radiation source. INSTRUMENTS AND TESTING - CLAIMED METHOD: The detector unit is moved from a starting position to a region near the radiation source, where it is exposed to radiation from the source for a given time period, and then the unit is returned to its starting position. A set of radiation dose values are built up for a number of detection areas and combined into a three-dimensional distribution.
