Bok (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
- Ett konstverk där kammarmusik, bildspel och kåserier vävs samman till musikaliska vandringar. Levnadskonstnären Daniel Berg tar dig med på en resa genom Sverige till de många konsertstäder han besökt, men bjuder också på tidsresor tillbaka till 1970-, 80- och 90-talet. Till varje kapitel har Daniel Berg komponerat kammarmusik samt skapat ett bildspel som förstärker upplevelsen av kåseriet. Musik och bild nås via unika QR-koder i anslutning till respektive kapitel. Följ med på vandring i fotspåren av Astrid Lindgren, Adolf Fredriks musikklasser, Kungsholmens gymnasium och 80-talsdeckaren Roland Hassel samt upplev platser som Jonsered, Vadstena och Olskroken.

- Seminarieserien "Sinnenas musik" har final. Ett sjätte sinne, säger många av oss. Extrasensorisk perception, rättar oss i så fall forskarna – med en beteckning som på 1930-talet myntades av den ameri- kanske botanikern Joseph Banks Rhine. Men vad är det egentligen för något? Det som man ibland kallar magkänsla? Eller intuition? Hur påverkas vi av den? Och hur använder vi allt vi inte kan organisera, intellektualisera och kvantifiera? Som till exempel en del av de upplevelser musiken skänker oss? Duo Granmo/Berg utforskar begreppet "Det sjätte sinnet" ur ett musikaliskt perspektiv tillsammans med Maria Küchen är poet och författare, Fredrik Höök professor i biologisk fysik vid Chalmers, Michael Eriksson och Peter Christensson, projektledare för AHA-festivalen vid Chalmers samt diskuterar och samtalar med en inbjuden skara specialister från olika områden.

- My good friend, the artist Peter Christensson, one day showed me some of his new artwork. The pictures were abstract but got the form of early expeditions to the Arctic. Peter told me, everything started with a dream about a polar swimmer and the world this person met on his journey to the North Pole. With my music, I want to enhance mood, pulse, nuances in the art and poetry of Peter Christensson. The irregular rhythm reinforces the feeling of unease, and the music ultimately aims upwards in the harmonics – a symbol for survival. At horizon or below, a poem begins.

- Can we improve humans by augmentation of some functions, a robot arm or modification of DNA? What does it mean to be human, and can the perception of being your authentic you, be augmented, and are you more authentic then? The possibilities to manipulate pictures and data, also raises questions, both in art and in science - what does authentic mean? The acoustics of the environment in which a musical performance is taking place are an integral component of the performance. This is true for all sorts of genres: The acoustics of, say, a concert hall influence the interaction between the musicians and how the sound emitted by the musical instruments reaches the listener. Similarly, the room is part of the sound of a loudspeaker when recorded sound is being played. In this presentation, we will explain a selection of acoustical phenomena related to music performance spaces and musical instruments and how they influence the performance and the perception of it. The presentation by Prof. Jens Ahrens is interleaved with live performances and demonstrations by Duo Granmo-Berg.

- Of course I know, but still..Imagine sitting in the audience of a theater play when on stage two people are waving a blue plastic sheet between them. A third person comes walking across the stage with a cardboard structure around their waist and two wooden sticks in their hands. It is obvious that what you see is picturing someone in a boat, on the ocean. If you doubt that and say “I see that it is not the ocean it is plastic!” you will break the necessary agreement in an aesthetic experience. “The suspension of disbelief” seems to be a condition for experiencing different cultural phenomena. Is this also relevant in science and other areas of knowledge production? - In our society, time seems central and many people complain about a lack of time. Everything should go faster and faster, but is there even time? What is time? In science we find time in many fundamental equations and Einstein described time as a sequence of events. We are talking about biological time and in music and dance rhythm is central. Some describe time as linear, others as circular. Some say that time is passing, others that it will come. Regardless, time seems central to us humans and together with researchers, artists, students and other curious people, we want to explore time. - In its most physical sense, resonance occurs when two or more objects affect each other in a way that they come into harmony. Resonance is also an explanatory model for stability, structure, and properties in chemical compounds. According to the German sociologist Hartmut Rosa, resonance is not merely an emotional state but a way of relating to the world. He suggests that resonance is a common thread in all the experiences that make life worth living. Resonance involves the absorption of energy from an impulse, resulting in oscillations with the same frequency in the absorber. To bring about political change through coalitions and confrontations, one must be sensitive to resonances. Effective leaders can generate resonance and energy, thus motivating others in a positive and emotional direction. Furthermore, resonance plays a crucial role in music, acoustics, architecture, and the intersection of art and science. Duo Granmo/Berg Workshop theme: Resonans between musicians, room,and listener.
