  • ADVANCED MATERIAL MODELLING IN CRUSHING PLANTS USING REAL TIME ALGORITHMS
  • 2015
  • Ingår i: Computational Modelling 2015, MEI conference.
  • Konferensbidrag (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
    • In process control of crushing plants the traditional control is focused on stability control ofsingle machines and not on controlling material utilization. The reason for this is that the use ofmaterial property models is not that well known. The material models describe properties as e.g.capacity over time for a given product and this may depend on many parameters and dynamic effectsin the process. Due to this it is complicated to model and thus a methodology is needed to solve thisproblem. In this paper a novel method for modeling the current effect that the production units haveon the material presented. The paper presents a methodology how to use process data from SCADAsystem to analyze and suggest dynamic material model properties in real time.

  • DEM simulation of banana screen performance
  • 2015
  • Ingår i: Proceedings, ;Minerals Engineerings Conference Physical Separation 2015 June 11-12...
  • Konferensbidrag (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
    • Banana screening is an important size classification component. The screens are characterized by a high capacity for separation. The operation of screening usually takes place after crushing operation. The shape of the banana screens causes the feed material to flow rapidly and the result will be faster screening rate. The difference between banana screens and other screens is that in banana screens the screen cut size varies with the changing slope of the decks. There are number of factors that affect screening operation like inclination of discharge, open area, thickness of deck and feed rate. The aim of this paper is to simulate the screener deck with the help of DEM Simulation and to analyze different parameters that affect screener operation efficiency and optimizing the screener so that it has the best performance during the wear life of the screen media. The one deck banana screen are simulated, the result show when the value of deck thickness and deck slope increase the probability of particles passage through the apertures will be decrease.

  • Prediction of Collision Energy in the VSI Crusher
  • 2015
  • Ingår i: Proceedings; European Symposium on Comminution and Classification 2015 September 7-10.
  • Konferensbidrag (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
    • VSI crushers are established comminution machines often used for size reduction and to improve the sphericity of rock particles. Data collection and experimental observation inside VSI crushers remains difficult, leading to lack of understanding of the full extent of the particle dynamics inside a VSI crusher. The aim of this paper is to attempt to characterize the probability of collision of particles in relation to their distance from the rotor. By comparing the number of collisions at a given location with the overall amount of collisions, the probability of a collision event related to the distance a particle has travelled from the rotor can be estimated. The result is an increased understanding of VSI crushers and the particle collision behaviour inside of a VSI crushing chamber.

  • The Effect of Rotor Tip Speed of a Vertical Shaft Impactor on the Collision Energy Spectrum
  • 2015
  • Ingår i: Proceedings;Minerals Engineering Conference Computational Modelling 2015 June 10-11.
  • Konferensbidrag (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
    • The increasing restrictions on natural aggregates have led to a demand for effective production of artificial sand and gravel. VSI crushers are established comminution machines often used in order to improve the sphericity of particles. Due to the difficulty in data collection, the full extent of the particle dynamics inside a VSI crusher has remained unexplored. The aim of this paper is to use DEM simulations to model a full-scale crusher, generate a realistic material flow and make a number of crusher tests with different rotor tip speeds. Each particle’s collision energy compared to its size will provide a spectrum which can be related to the probability of breakage. This will show how increasing rotational speed affects collisions and the impact energy of particles inside the crusher. The result is an increased understanding that can allow optimization and modeling of VSI crushers with higher accuracy.

  • Textile as Artificial Nature - From Synthetic Sea Grass to Fibrous Implants
  • 2017
  • Ingår i: Advances in Science and Technology. - 1662-0356. ; 100, s. 181-186
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • We develop the hypothesis that textile and nature have much in common and that in a time of biomimetics textile is a unique class of material that provides a bridge between artefacts, by definition synthetic, and biofacts - material entities found in and produced by nature, i.e. non-synthetic. Furthermore we formulate the (seemingly) contradictorily concept of Artificial Nature. Biomimetics sometimes emphasize the inspirational aspects so that science and technology get input from biology for new technological development for new artefacts. Artificial Nature instead emphasizes the other way around; adding sound, ecology based, technology to nature and in nature for enhancing ecosystem functions. Some characteristics of natural biofact materials and structures include pliability, softness, porosity, light weight, recyclability, and periodicity. Textiles are soft, foldable, of low weight, inherent porous, anisotropic as well as periodic, easily compatible with biodegradability and recyclability. Thus there are many similarities. These are discussed together with a number of cases where textiles are mimicking biofacts. We first look at synthetic see grass (Zostera marina) for remediation of one of the most important biotopes in the world where we show that textile processing techniques are able to make production efficient. Then we look at artificial leaves, i.e. photon collecting flexible patches and indicate the textile realization of such. One of the most valuable ecosystem services is the provision of clean water and maintaining a low degree of pollution in water is of outmost importance. Textile based water purification systems has been constructed and merged with fungus (Zygomycetes) we show the potential for enhancing wet land capability.

  • Space and place for health and care
  • 2020
  • Ingår i: International Journal of Qualitative Studies on Health and Well-being. - Abingdon : Taylor and Francis Ltd.. - 1748-2623 .- 1748-2631. ; 15:sup1
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Purpose: This discussion paper aims to contribute to a greater understanding of the state of the art of research engaged with conceptual matters of space and place for health and care. Method: The authors, who represent a variety of academic disciplines, discuss and demonstrate the conceptual recognition of space and place in research in health and caring sciences building upon own work and experience. Results: To explore the concepts of space and place for health and care is a research pursuit of utmost importance, and should be made through transdisciplinary research collaborations, whereby spatial theories from various disciplines could be communicated to cultivate truly novel and well-informed research. Furthermore, engaging with relational and topological perceptions of space and place poses methodological challenges to overcome in future research on health and care. Conclusions: We argue that there is a need for accelerating spatially informed research on health and care that is informed by current theories and perspectives on space and place, and transdisciplinary research collaborations are a means to achieving this. © 2020 The Author(s). • Evaluation of the Vegetation Period According to Climate Change Scenarios: A Case Study in the Inner West Anatolia Subregion of Turkey*
  • 2019
  • Ingår i: Journal of Geography. - : Istanbul University. - 1302-7212 .- 1305-2128. ; , s. 29-39
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • In this research, 15 meteorological stations located in western Anatolia in Turkey were investigated for determining temperature properties. The vegetation season has been determined according to days when the daily temperature was greater than or equal to 8°C. The research area has 3 different vegetation durations as longer (more than 225 days in the western and southern parts), moderate (210-220 days in plateaus around Uşak, Gediz and Demirci), and shorter (180-195 days in the eastern part and less than 180 days in mountainous areas). Then, the vegetation has been reinvestigated according to climate change scenarios (RCP 4.5 and 8.5). For this purpose, the daily mean temperatures were raised by 2.6°C and 4.8°C for RCP 4.5 and RCP 8.5, respectively. In the reinvestigation period, the vegetation period will increase about 15-20 days or over 40 days according to RCP 4.5 and 8.5, respectively. Along with the increase in temperature throughout the research area, growing seasons will be significantly affected, beginning and ending dates of vegetation would shift. Owing to climate change effects, mountainous areas may be affected more than low-altitude areas. As a conclusion due to the result of increasing temperature, plant development and distribution will be affected, and new plant species may occur

  • Annotating public fungal ITS sequences from the built environment according to the MIxS-Built Environment standard – a report from a May 23-24, 2016 workshop (Gothenburg, Sweden)
  • 2016
  • Ingår i: MycoKeys. - : Pensoft Publishers. - 1314-4057 .- 1314-4049. ; 16, s. 1-15
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Recent molecular studies have identified substantial fungal diversity in indoor environments. Fungi and fungal particles have been linked to a range of potentially unwanted effects in the built environment, including asthma, decay of building materials, and food spoilage. The study of the built mycobiome is hampered by a number of constraints, one of which is the poor state of the metadata annotation of fungal DNA sequences from the built environment in public databases. In order to enable precise interrogation of such data – for example, “retrieve all fungal sequences recovered from bathrooms” – a workshop was organized at the University of Gothenburg (May 23-24, 2016) to annotate public fungal barcode (ITS) sequences according to the MIxS-Built Environment annotation standard (http://gensc.org/mixs/). The 36 participants assembled a total of 45,488 data points from the published literature, including the addition of 8,430 instances of countries of collection from a total of 83 countries, 5,801 instances of building types, and 3,876 instances of surface-air contaminants. The results were implemented in the UNITE database for molecular identification of fungi (http://unite.ut.ee) and were shared with other online resources. Data obtained from human/animal pathogenic fungi will furthermore be verified on culture based metadata for subsequent inclusion in the ISHAM-ITS database (http://its.mycologylab.org).

  • 2018
  • Ingår i: Journal of Algebraic Combinatorics. - : SPRINGER. - 0925-9899 .- 1572-9192. ; 47:4, s. 543-560
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • When acts on the flag variety of , the orbits are in bijection with fixed point free involutions in the symmetric group . In this case, the associated Kazhdan-Lusztig-Vogan polynomials can be indexed by pairs of fixed point free involutions , where denotes the Bruhat order on . We prove that these polynomials are combinatorial invariants in the sense that if is a poset isomorphism of upper intervals in the Bruhat order on fixed point free involutions, then for all v amp;gt;= u.
