  • Facilitating Mobile Music Sharing and Social Interaction with Push!Music
  • 2007
  • Ingår i: Proceedings of the 40th Hawaii International Conference on System Sciences. - Los Alamitos, Calif. : IEEE Computer Society Washington. - 1530-1605. - 0769527558 ; , s. 87-
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Push!Music is a novel mobile music listening and sharing system, where users automatically receive songs that have autonomously recommended themselves from nearby players depending on similar listening behaviour and music history. Push!Music also enables users to wirelessly send songs between each other as personal recommendations. We conducted a two-week preliminary user study of Push!Music, where a group of five friends used the application in their everyday life. We learned for example that the shared music in Push!Music became a start for social interaction and that received songs in general were highly appreciated and could be looked upon as 'treats'.

  • Ubicomp challenges in collaborative scheduling : Pin&Play at the Göteborg film festival
  • 2007
  • Ingår i: Journal of Personal and Ubiquitous Computing. - : Springer Science and Business Media LLC. - 1617-4909 .- 1617-4917. ; 11, s. 563-575
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Ubicomp technology faces many technical challenges, which makes it difficult to test in real world situations. However, understanding and building for everyday practices is crucial for ubicomp designers, in order to push the technological development in the directions needed. We have developed and tested a ubiquitous computing prototype supporting collaborative scheduling. It is based on Pin&Play, a surface-based networking technology with interactive pushpins. The team of a local film festival was engaged in the development process, which resulted in a partial implementation illustrating how their current work practice could be supported. Drawing on this particular design case, we report findings and discuss challenges for ubicomp technology in general.

  • Where all the interaction is sketching in interaction design as an embodied practice
  • 2008
  • Ingår i: Proc Conf Des Interact Syst Process Pract Methods Tech DIS. - New York, NY, USA : ACM. - 9781605580029 ; , s. 445-454, s. 445-454
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Sketching and design sketches are often recognized as key elements of successful interaction design practice and a central skill in interaction design expertise. Interaction design is a relatively young field without well-developed conventions, tools, and formalisms. We analyze the practical work and the conduct of interaction designers in how they express interaction and dynamics through whiteboard drawings. We focus on how talk and action were used to shape the meaning of the drawings. The ways the designers imagined that users would interact with the system and how it would mediate communication between users became topical through a web of drawings, talk, and embodied action. Our analysis forefronts three aspects of interaction design: 1) the role of the design material 2) the role of embodied action in interaction design, and 3) talk and embodied action as central means of doing design. We argue that the qualities of a design material need to be understood in relation to the activity in which it is taken into use and through the kinds of actions that the participants engage in. This implies that design representations do not carry meaning in themselves but are made meaningful through design activity.

  • Secure Computation on 4G/5G Enabled Internet-of-Things
  • 2019
  • Ingår i: Wireless Communications & Mobile Computing. - : Hindawi Limited. - 1530-8669 .- 1530-8677. ; 2019, s. 1-1
  • Tidskriftsartikel (populärvet., debatt m.m.)abstract
    • The rapid development of Internet-of-ings (IoT) techniques in G/ G deployments is witnessing the generation of massive amounts of data which are collected, stored, processed, and presented in an easily interpretable form. Analysis of IoT data helps provide smart services such as smart homes, smart energy, smart health, and smart environments through G and G technologies. At the same time, the threat of the cyberattacks and issues with mobile internet security is becoming increasingly severe, which introduces new challenges for the security of IoT systems and applications and the privacy of individuals thereby. Protecting IoT data privacy while enabling data availability is an urgent but difficult task.

  • Enhancing the internet of things with knowledge-driven software-defined networking technology : Future perspectives
  • 2020
  • Ingår i: Sensors. - : MDPI AG. - 1424-8220. ; 20:12, s. 1-20
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The Internet of Things (IoT) connects smart devices to enable various intelligent services. The deployment of IoT encounters several challenges, such as difficulties in controlling and managing IoT applications and networks, problems in programming existing IoT devices, long service provisioning time, underused resources, as well as complexity, isolation and scalability, among others. One fundamental concern is that current IoT networks lack flexibility and intelligence. A network-wide flexible control and management are missing in IoT networks. In addition, huge numbers of devices and large amounts of data are involved in IoT, but none of them have been tuned for supporting network management and control. In this paper, we argue that Software-defined Networking (SDN) together with the data generated by IoT applications can enhance the control and management of IoT in terms of flexibility and intelligence. We present a review for the evolution of SDN and IoT and analyze the benefits and challenges brought by the integration of SDN and IoT with the help of IoT data. We discuss the perspectives of knowledge-driven SDN for IoT through a new IoT architecture and illustrate how to realize Industry IoT by using the architecture. We also highlight the challenges and future research works toward realizing IoT with the knowledge-driven SDN.

  • Using autonomous agents in Internet marketing : A discussion on subjective product characteristics in agent assisted trade
  • 1998
  • Ingår i: Technologies for the Information Society. - Amsterdam : IOS Press. - 90 5199 450 8 - 4 274 90251 ; , s. 225-232
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • An important issue in Internet marketing is the possibility of designing autonomous agents that are able to interpret subjective values in goods and services. From the customer's point of view, it is important to evaluate all aspects linked to the product before purchasing, not only easily identified objective parameters such as price. From a marketing perspective, the building of a brand is probably the most efficient way to distinguish a product from those of the competitors. It is therefore important for both customers and marketers to design agents that are able to interpret certain subjective product characteristics when searching for products or services on the Internet. This paper outlines a generic model of an autonomous agent Internet marketing system with a discussion on the possibilities of handling subjective product characteristics.

  • Web Metrics – Design Specifications of  Web-based System for Personalization with "Bifurcation"
  • 2000
  • Ingår i: 2000 Proceedings. - New York : TAGA office, Rochester. ; , s. 67-87
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • This paper describes a personalization system aiming at one-to-one marketing with the ability to support real-time identification, selection, and content creation where the interaction is performed on a web-based e-commerce platform. The personalization system is capable of controlling and presenting the web site in different shapes to different consumers – controlled bifurcation.  When combined with the tracking of the visitor’s site movements, detailed consumer behavior patterns can be established. One important means has been to create a system that can later on be used in consumer behavior research.  The bifurcation capability means that the system can be used to test the impact of different layouts of the web site – or of different sales offerings – in the same way direct marketing methods work.  This system will be able to present different layouts of the site or offerings to randomized groups of visitors.  Their responses, in the form of movements within the site, purchase frequencies, etc., can then be measured by the system.
