Adjunction for the Grauert-Riemenschneider canonical sheaf and extension of L^2-cohomology classes

- In the present paper, we derive an adjunction formula for the Grauert-Riemenschneider canonical sheaf of a singular hypersurface V in a complex manifold M. This adjunction formula is used to study the problem of extending L2-cohomology classes of dbar-closed forms from the singular hypersurface V to the manifold M in the spirit of the Ohsawa-Takegoshi-Manivel extension theorem. We do that by showing that our formulation of the L2-extension problem is invariant under bimeromorphic modifications, so that we can reduce the problem to the smooth case by use of an embedded resolution of V in M. The smooth case has recently been studied by Berndtsson.

The residue current of a codimension three complete intersection

- Let f1, f2, and f3 be holomorphic functions on a complex manifold and assume that the common zero set of the fj has maximal codimension, i.e., that it is a complete intersection. We prove that the iterated Mellin transform of the residue integral has an analytic continuation to a neighborhood of the origin in C3. We prove also that the natural regularization of the residue current converges unrestrictedly.

On the curvature of an inner curve in a Schwarz-Christoffel mapping

- In the so called outer polygon method, an approximative conformal mapping for a given simply connected region \Omega is constructed using a Schwarz-Christoffel mapping for an outer polygon, a polygonal region of which \Omega is a subset. The resulting region is then bounded by a C^\infty -curve, which among other things means that its curvature is bounded. In this work, we study the curvature of an inner curve in a polygon, i.e., the image under the Schwarz-Christoffel mapping from R, the unit disk or upper halfplane, to a polygonal region P of a curve inside R. From the Schwarz-Christoffel formula, explicit expressions for the curvature are derived, and for boundary curves, appearing in the outer polygon method, estimations of boundaries for the curvature are given.

Epi-convergence of minimum curvature variation B-splines

- We study the curvature variation functional, i.e., the integral over the square of arc-length derivative of curvature, along a planar curve. With no other constraints than prescribed position, slope angle, and curvature at the endpoints of the curve, the minimizer of this functional is known as a cubic spiral. It remains a challenge to effectively compute minimizers or approximations to minimizers of this functional subject to additional constraints such as, for example, for the curve to avoid obstacles such as other curves. In this paper, we consider the set of smooth curves that can be written as graphs of three times continuously differentiable functions on an interval, and, in particular, we consider approximations using quartic uniform B- spline functions. We show that if quartic uniform B-spline minimizers of the curvature variation functional converge to a curve, as the number of B-spline basis functions tends to infinity, then this curve is in fact a minimizer of the curvature variation functional. In order to illustrate this result, we present an example of sequences of B-spline minimizers that converge to a cubic spiral.

- I projektet beskrivs och tillämpasnågra metoder för tillståndsbedömningav olika typer av konstruktioner med och utan skador.Tillståndsbedömningen skermed hjälp av vibrationsanalys.Detektering av skador av olika typ och storlekdiskuteras. Randvillkorens betydelse undersöks för att få överensstämmelse mellan förutspådda och uppmätta egenmoder och egenfrekvenser.Med den programvara som utvecklats är det möjligt att detektera sprickor i enkla betongplattor med hjälp av vibrationsmätningar. För mer avancerade konstruktioner finns en potential att vidareutveckla programvaran.Mätningar och analyser presenterasför femkonstruktioner: (1) En betongplatta –Sprickor har kunnat identifieras utifrån vibrationsmätningar och en successivt uppdaterad finit element modell (FEM).(2) En bågbro av betong över Långforsen i Kalix älv–Okända randvillkor har kunnat bestämmasför t ex undergrundens styvhetmedhjälp avuppmätta vibrationer. Detekteringav specifika skadorhar ännu inte kunnat genomföras.(3) En fackverksbro av stålöver Åby älv–Enviss skadedetektering har kunnat genomföras med vibrationsmätningar. Brons sårbarhet för korrosion och lokala mekaniska skador har studerats.(4) En förspänd betongbrotill gruvan i Kiruna–Modeller av bron har arbetats framför obelastatoch brottbelastat tillståndoch jämförts med uppmätta vibrationer med gott resultat.(5) Ett betonghus med nio våningar i Luleå –En FEM-modell av huseti bruksstadiethar tagits fram och resultat från den har jämförts med uppmätta vibrationer med gott resultat.Metoder och resultatpresenteras översiktligti rapportens huvudtext. The n-dimensional Stern-Brocot tree

- The n-dimensional Stern-Brocot tree consists of all sequences (p₁, ...,p_{n}) of positive integers with no common multiple. The relatively prime sequences can be generated branchwise from each other by simple vector summation, starting with an ON-base, and controlled by a generalized Euclidean algorithm.The tree induces a multiresolution partition of the first quadrant of the (n-1)-dimensional unit sphere, providing a direction approximation property of a sequence by its ancestors. Two matrix representations are introduced, where in both a matrix contains the parents of a sequence. From one of them the isomorphism of a subtree to the entire tree of dimension equal to the number of parents of the top sequence follows. A form of Fibonacci sequences turn out to be the sequences of fastest growing sums. The construction can be regarded an n-dimensional continued fraction, and it may invite further n-dimesional number theory.
