- This brief anthology presents the basics of the interdisciplinary course called “Smart City Governance – AI Ethics in a Spatial Context”, given at Lund University. Furthermore, it includes three papers and a task written by students from the class of 2021/2022 in order to show examples of the topics possible to analyse when combining engineering students from programmes on data, ICT and land surveying with students from the humanities or social sciences.Head of course is Stefan Larsson, Associate Professor at the Department of Technology and Society at LTH, Lund University. As a socio-legal scholar and lawyer at a faculty of engineering, he leads a group studying governance and issues of trust and transparency with autonomous and AI-driven technologies in domains ranging from the public sector to consumer markets, medicine and social robotics.Laetitia Tanqueray is a Teaching Assistant on this course, and canvas coordinator. Laetitia holds bachelors’ in English Law and French Law and a master’s in Sociology of Law. She is a project assistant at the Department of Technology and Society at LTH, Lund University, investigating questions related to socio-legal robotics.

Future of mobility systems in Nordic winter cities : exploring expert-based and context-driven imaginaries of sustainable mobility

- This article aims to contribute to the discussion about the future of sustainable mobility in Nordic winter cities. We share outcomes of an exploratory study of expert-based imaginaries and contrast them with context-driven imaginaries we found in Skellefteå, a quickly growing municipality in the north of Sweden. Such imaginaries reflect collectively held visions and expectations about the future, blending technological, social, cultural and economic dimensions. They are not individual perceptions of the future but rather are those shared collectively. On the way to sustainable and just mobility systems, it is important to identify and highlight diverse imaginaries coming from a variety of places and from different actor groups, especially those that are still overlooked and underrepresented in the mainstream debate. In this article, we draw attention to two context-driven imaginaries and show how they differ from those held by transport and mobility experts. By paying attention to diverse imaginaries, the current debate about future mobility systems can become more vibrant and inclusive. And, eventually, lead to the discovery of context-sensitive solutions for future mobility systems in the Northern regions and pathways towards them.

Examination med hjälp av dagbok- erfarenheter från en kurs tillhörande civilingenjörsutbildningen i samhällsteknik vid Mälardalens högskola

- Ett intressant sätt att kombinera examination och inlärning är att examinera genom att studenterna under kursens gång får skriva dagbok och göra reflektioner över sin egen inlärning. Fördelen är också att det befrämjar kontinuerlig inlärning. Vi har provat denna examinationsform i en kurs tillhörande årskurs 4 inom vår civilingenjörsutbildning (civilingenjör i samhällsteknik). En stor del av kursen består av ett projektarbete och anledningen till att vi från början valde dagbok som examinationsform var att vi bedömde att vi därmed skulle få större möjligheter att göra en rättvis bedömning av studenternas individuella kunskaper. Kursen gick första gången under vårterminen 2006 och för andra gången vårtterminen 2007. Våra erfarenheter är övervägande positiva men det finns också nackdelar och svårigheter som t ex lärarinsats, studenters ovana vid formen och kriterier för betygssättning.

- The goal of this study is to provide an analysis of cyber crisis management by identifying relations between this emerging field and the better established subject of general crisis management. This includes terminology and key concepts in these fields. This study further seeks to gain knowledge and understanding of the involved actors’ perspectives on the challenges for Cyber Crisis management within the European context.The purpose of the study is twofold: to compare concepts from the general crisis management systems with the corresponding systems related to cyber crisis management, and to conduct a conceptual analysis of the language and terminology within these two fields. The primary aim is to analyse the similarities and differences between general and cyber crisis management, employing examples from countries and organizations within the EU.Based on interviews with members of key national and EU institutions, and on an analysis of the differences between their practitioner perspectives and the theories of general crisis management, the study arrives at six key areas of recommendations for future activities in the cyber security realm.
