- By exploring the perceptions of cooperation between technostructure experts and middle line managers of different departments in three Swedish municipalities in a qualitative study, this paper contributes to an understanding of how gendered norms inscribed in type of work influence expectations on cooperation. Theories of principal-agent, stewardship, and partnership, and a gender perspective are used. The comparative analysis shows that despite changes in work roles under the influence of NPM, traditional norms about gender appear to be reproduced in the expectations of cooperation. The results illustrate how cooperation is shaped in contexts associated with feminine respective masculine work.

- The aim of this paper is to shed light on how teachers’ talk about children’s physical activity in school-age educare can be seen as part of comprehensive social discourses concerning education and physical activity. Focus-group interviews with a discourse-analytic approach have been carried out with staff from two municipal school-age educare in Sweden. The transcriptions was analyzed with inspiration from critical discourse analyze which is the theoretical standpoint. In the result the discourses of risk, shortage, activity, complement and joy of movement are the most prominent. In analysis these discourses are seen as inter-discursively influenced by the public health discourse wherein concepts as activity rate, discipline, joy of movement and organization are central. These discourses, concepts and possible implications for school-age educare are discussed. It is also argued that a social pedagogical discourse of care with focus on children’s relation making and conflict management seems to be manifest within Swedish school-age educare.

Nurses' lived experiences of moral stress support in the intensive care context.

- The aim of this study was to analyse and describe lived experiences of support in situations characterized by critical care situations and moral stress in intensive care nursing. An exploratory interpretative study was conducted. Data consisted of interviews with 36 nurses from different types of intensive care units. The first level of analysis of data identified contextual factors, such as type and purpose of support and working conditions. On the next level of analysis five tentative interpretations were identified: (1) receiving organized support is a matter of self-determination, (2) whether to participate in organized support or to be off duty are experienced as mutually exclusive, (3) dealing with moral stress is experienced as a private matter, (4) colleagues managing moral stress serve as models in stress support and (5) not being able to deal with moral stress urges one to seek outside support. A comparison of these interpretations identified three major themes: availability, accessibility and receptivity of support. The main interpretation and conclusion were: lived experience of moral stress support involves an interconnectedness between structural and existential factors. Thus, adequate moral stress support presupposes an allowable professional climate and access to caring supervision.

Social and existential alienation experienced by people with long-term mental illness

- The aim of this study was to explore how people suffering from long-term mental illness and who live in the community experience their daily lives. The study was based on an ethnographic framework involving participant observations with 23 individuals from two rehabilitation centres and interviews with six women and two men. The observational notes and interviews were recorded, transcribed into the data and analysed based on the phases of hermeneutic interpretation. The process consisted of identifying tentative interpretations that highlighted various impediments that prevent people with long-term mental illness from having an active life. The impediments can also be interpreted as a form of alienation, an interpersonal phenomenon and a consequence due to of the lack of social acceptance towards mental illness. The participants expressed concern about the future and lack of hope. Viewing themselves as being ‘odd’ is not a symptom of mental illness, but rather evidence of experiencing existential and social alienation not only as a consequence of other people's reactions but also their own negative attitudes towards mental illness and effects of their cognitive dysfunction.

- Artikeln handlar om den betydelse existentiell mening har för utvecklingen av ett ekonomiskt, socialt och ekologiskt hållbart alternativsamhälle på landsbygden. I artikeln analyseras 15 individers berättelser om konkreta praktiker och gemensamma insatser i formandet av en existentiellt meningsfull vardag på en plats med cirkulär ekonomi, självförsörjning och arbetskritiska attityder. Analysen inramas av ett existenssociologiskt perspektiv och Becks tanke om ”frihetens barn”, som i en andra modernitet försöker att ta vara på de möjligheter som kan uppstå i ett samhälle som i övrigt mest erbjuder risker och osäkerhet. Genom att utveckla ett ”livspolitiskt” förhållningssätt, bortom konsumtionssamhällets överflöd och arbetssamhällets plikter, vill intervjupersonerna både uppnå ett meningsfullt liv i nuet och bygga ett hållbart lokalsamhälle där resurser tillvaratas för kommande generationer. Målet är att till skillnad från upplevelsen av meningslöshet i det kapitalistiska arbetssamhället skapa existentiell mening på en plats där de kan bestämma över sin egen tid och finna kollektiva lösningar på individuella problem. Strävan efter att etablera ett sådant postkapitalistiskt samhälle medför dock även dilemman och interna konflikter kring organiserings- och finansieringsmöjligheter.

- Den här boken handlar om chefer, experter och stödfunktioner i kommuner - och om deras administrativa arbete. Den kommunala sektorns administration har på några decennier förändrats genomgripande, både vad gäller omfattning, arbetsinnehåll och styrka.
