  • Idéburen välfärd i Sverige : en systematisk litteraturstudie
  • 2022
  • Ingår i: Socialvetenskaplig tidskrift. - : Förbundet för forskning i socialt arbete. - 1104-1420 .- 2003-5624. ; 29:1, s. 1-25
I artikeln analyseras 161 publicerade studier.

  • The Role of Nonprofit Organizations in the Co-production of Welfare Services : A Systematic Literature Review
  • 2023
  • Ingår i: Journal of Public and Nonprofit Affairs. - 2381-3717. ; 9:2, s. 164-182
  • Forskningsöversikt (refereegranskat)abstract
    • This review studies previous research on the role of nonprofit organizations in the co-production of welfare services. The need for the review stems from the lack of systematic literature reviews related to nonprofit organizations, co-production, and welfare services. The empirical material is delimited to peer-reviewed research published in international academic journals and analyzed in relation to levels of co-production, the role of organizations, and nonprofit organizational distinctiveness. Main findings include that research has primarily studied the role of nonprofit organizations in relation to co-production and enabling favorable conditions, and that existing research identifies several potential distinctive contributions made by nonprofit organizations to co-production. Implications include encouraging co-management of welfare services, enabling co-production in welfare services beyond public organizations, and exploring how different types of organizations contribute to co-production.

  • Application of Rasch Analysis for Development and Psychometric Properties of Adolescents' Quality of Life Instruments : A Systematic Review
  • 2020
  • Ingår i: Adolescent Health, Medicine and Therapeutics. - 1179-318X. ; 11, s. 173-197
  • Forskningsöversikt (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Background: Due to the importance of assessing quality of life (QoL) in healthy and ill adolescents, the evaluation of psychometric properties of these questionnaires is important. Objective: To investigate the application of Rasch analysis in psychometric assessment studies on adolescents' QoL instruments, and to evaluate the quality of reporting Rasch parameters in these studies. Methods: This systematic review was conducted by searching for papers in electronic databases PubMed, Web of Science, EMBASE, Cochrane Library and Scopus until December 2018.Results: After screening 122 papers, 31 remained in the study. Around 68% of the studies used the Rasch analysis for instrument testing and 32% for the development of new instruments. In 77.4% of studies, both classical and Rasch methods were used parallel to data analysis. In 32.2% of studies, healthy adolescents were the main target group. The most commonly used instrument in Rasch studies was, KIDSCREEN, administered in different countries. Six Rasch parameters were reported with a higher percentage in the studies. Major reported parameters of Rasch analysis were application of the software program (96.7%), test of item fit to the Rasch model (93.5%), unidimensionality (80.6%), type of the identified mathematical Rasch model (74.1%), threshold (58%) and differential item functioning (54.8%). Based on the psychometric evaluation of the QoL instruments, 71% of studies showed acceptable results. Conclusion: The application of the Rasch model for psychometric assessment of adolescents' QoL questionnaires has increased in recent decades. But, there is still no strong and commonly used critical appraisal tool or guideline for the evaluation of these papers.

  • Metoder för att motivera våldsutsatta och våldsutövande personer till stöd : En scoping review
  • 2023
  • Ingår i: Socialmedicinsk Tidskrift. - 0037-833X .- 2000-4192. ; 100:2, s. 355-367

  • Being represented by others due to diminished decision capacity : a review of research literature
  • 2023
  • Ingår i: Nordic Social Work Research. - 2156-857X .- 2156-8588. ; 13:3, s. 445-459
  • Forskningsöversikt (refereegranskat)abstract
    • In social work, when a person needs to be supported or represented by another – be it voluntarily or by compulsion, permanently or for a limited time – questions on autonomy, integrity, and rights are raised. In particular, representation has implications for the relationship between the person being represented, the representative, and the social worker or service provider. While legal reforms on support and representation have been performed in the Nordic countries the last decade, the views from those being represented, i.e. their needs and wishes on different forms of representation, have not been prominent. Using this as a starting point, this literature review explored previous research on experiences of people represented by others, e.g., people with intellectual disability, people with mental illness, and children needing representation by a third party The literature review encompassed relevant studies using qualitative, quantitative, and mixed methods, and a range of policy and legal areas. Four databases were used in the search process (Academic Search Complete, ASSIA, SocIndex, and Sociological Abstracts). Based on inclusion criteria, eight articles were included in this review, encompassing experiences of people with intellectual disability, people with mental illness, and children needing representation by a third party. Two recurrent themes relevant for social work were identified: the balance between protecting and violating rights, and the importance of lasting and trusting relationships between the person being represented and the person representing. The review revealed a need for more social work research, not least from a Nordic perspective, reflecting the experiences  of people being represented.

  • Variations on a theme : Exploring understandings of the marketisation concept in civil society research
  • 2020
  • Ingår i: International Review of Sociology. - : Taylor & Francis. - 0390-6701 .- 1469-9273. ; 30:3, s. 443-468
  • Forskningsöversikt (refereegranskat)abstract
    • It is, today, widely accepted that market structures, logics, identities and activities are spreading throughout society, including civil society and its organisations. Scholars increasingly use the marketisation concept to describe these tendencies. This paper reviews the meaning attached to this concept, when used in the context of civil society. A sample of 210 peer-reviewed articles in civil society studies published between 1993 and 2017 is explored in an analysis that suggests that marketisation is being used with much variation in the literature. The analysis also shows that apart from more generic descriptions of persistent attempts to privatise and commodify various goods and services, few articles seem to involve more detailed definitions or profound conceptual arguments. Taken together, this indicates a development where the concept of marketisation runs the risk of losing its analytical powers. To avoid this, the paper proposes a stricter and more transparent use of the term ‘marketisation’ and suggests ways to further develop this concept in research.

  • The Relationship Between Alexithymia and Emotional Awareness : A Meta-Analytic Review of the Correlation Between TAS-20 and LEAS
  • 2018
  • Ingår i: Frontiers in Psychology. - : Frontiers Media SA. - 1664-1078. ; 9, s. 1-10-
  • Forskningsöversikt (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Background: Alexithymia and emotional awareness may be considered overlapping constructs and both have been shown to be related to psychological and emotional well-being. However, it is not clear how the constructs relate to each other empirically or if they may overlap more or less in different populations. The aim of this review was therefore to conduct a meta-analysis of correlations between the most commonly used measures of alexithymia (i.e., the self-report instrument Toronto Alexithymia Scale; TAS-20) and emotional awareness (i.e., the observer-rated instrument Level of Emotional Awareness Scale; LEAS) and to explore potential moderators of their relationship. Methods: Electronic databases were searched for studies published until the end of February 2018. Study samples were coded as medical conditions, psychiatric disorders and/or healthy controls and sample mean age and gender distribution were extracted. Correlations between the TAS-20 and the LEAS were subjected to a random effect of meta-analysis and moderators were explored in subgroup analyses and meta-regressions. Publication bias was considered. Results: 21 studies reporting on 28 independent samples on correlation analysis were included, encompassing a total of 2857 subjects (57% women). The aggregated correlation between TAS-20 and LEAS was r = −0.122 (95% CI [−0.180, −0.064]; Z = −4.092; p < 0.001), indicating a significant, but weak, negative relationship between the measures. Heterogeneity was moderate, but we found no indication of significant differences between patients with medical conditions, psychiatric disorders or healthy controls, nor that mean age or percentage of female subjects moderated the relationship. The overall estimate became somewhat weaker after adjusting for possible publication bias. Conclusions: Our results indicate that TAS-20 and LEAS measure different aspects of emotional functioning. The small overlap suggests that alexithymia and emotional awareness are distinct constructs of emotional well-being. Clinicians need to assess both aspects when considering treatment options for individual patients. Moreover, from the clinical standpoint, an easy reliable and valid way of measuring emotional awareness is still needed. More research should be focus on the differences between alexithymia and emotional awareness in specific conditions, but also how to integrate self-report instrument and observed based measures in a clinical situation.

  • Homeless persons' experiences of health- and social care : A systematic integrative review
  • 2020
  • Ingår i: Health & Social Care in the Community. - : Hindawi Limited. - 0966-0410 .- 1365-2524. ; 28:1, s. 1-11
  • Forskningsöversikt (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Homelessness is associated with high risks of morbidity and premature death. Many interventions aimed to improve physical and mental health exist, but do not reach the population of persons experiencing homelessness. Despite the widely reported unmet healthcare needs, more information about the barriers and facilitators that affect access to care for persons experiencing homelessness is needed. A systematic integrative review was performed to explore experiences and needs of health- and social care for persons experiencing homelessness. The following databases were searched: AMED, ASSIA, Academic Search Complete, CINAHL, Cochrane library, Nursing and Allied Database, PsycInfo, PubMed, Scopus and Web of Science Core Collection. Twenty-two studies met the inclusion criteria of empirical studies with adult persons experiencing homelessness, English language, and published 2008-2018. Fifty percent of the studies were of qualitative and quantitative design, respectively. Most studies (73%) were conducted in the United States (n=11) and Canada (n=5). The analysis resulted in three themes Unmet basic human needs, Interpersonal dimensions of access to care, and Structural and organizational aspects to meet needs. The findings highlight that persons in homelessness often must prioritize provision for basic human needs, such as finding shelter and food, over getting health- and social care. Bureaucracy and rigid opening hours, as well as discrimination and stigma, hinder these persons' access to health- and social care.
