  • Nudging green food: The effects of a hedonic cue, menu position, a warm-glow cue, and a descriptive norm
  • 2023
  • Ingår i: Journal of Consumer Behaviour. - : Wiley. - 1472-0817 .- 1479-1838. ; 22:3, s. 557-568
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Meat consumption is associated with both public health risks and substantial CO2 emissions. In a large-scale field-experiment, we applied four nudges to the digital menus in 136 hamburger restaurants. The nudges promoted vegetarian food purchases by either (1) changing the menu position of vegetarian food, or aligning vegetarian food with (2) a hedonic, taste-focused nudge, (3) the warm-glow effect, or (4) a descriptive social norm. These nudges were thus aimed to shift salience toward a certain goal or the salience of a specific alternative. Vegetarian food purchases were measured in two datasets analyzing if nudges affected customers' "route " to ordering vegetarian food (29,640 observations), and the total number of vegetarian food sold during the intervention (346,081 observations). Results showed that the position nudge affected customers route to buying vegetarian food. More specifically, making the "green category " more accessible made more customers order through that category. Interestingly, this did not affect the total number of vegetarian sales. However, results indicate that nudges that utilize the salience of goals, in particular hedonic goals, may have an overall positive effect on total vegetarian sales.

  • What undermines healthy habits with regard to physical activity and food? : Voices of adolescents in a disadvantaged community
  • 2017
  • Ingår i: International Journal of Qualitative Studies on Health and Well-being. - Abingdon : Taylor & Francis. - 1748-2623 .- 1748-2631. ; 12
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • This study aimed to illuminate factors that undermine the healthy habits of adolescents from a multicultural community with low socioeconomic status (S.E.S.) in Sweden with regard to physical activity (P.A.) and food, as stated in their own voices. Adolescents (n = 53, 12–13 y/o) were recruited from one school situated in a multicultural community characterized by low S. E.S. Embracing an interpretive approach, 10 focus-group interviews were conducted to produce data for the study. The focus-group interviews were audio recorded, transcribed verbatim, and analysed using qualitative content analysis. The analysis resulted in two major themes: (1) the availability of temptations is large, and support from the surroundings is limited; and (2) norms and demands set the agenda. The adolescents’ voices illuminate a profound awareness and the magnitude of tempting screen-based activities as undermining their P.A. and healthy food habits. Moreover, several gender boundaries were highlighted as undermining girls’ P.A. and healthy food habits. The adolescents’ stories illuminated that it is difficult for them, within their environment, to establish healthy habits with regard to P.A. and food. To facilitate the adolescents’ healthy habits, we suggest that support from family, friends, the school, and society at large is essential.

  • The correlations between dimensions of the normal tendon and tendinopathy changed Achilles tendon in routine magnetic resonance imaging.
  • 2021
  • Ingår i: Scientific reports. - : Springer Science and Business Media LLC. - 2045-2322. ; 11:1
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • This comparative study aimed to investigate how tendinopathy-related lesions change correlations in the dimensions of the Achilles tendon. Our experimental group included 74 patients. The mean age was 52.9±10.4years. The control group included 81 patients with amean age was 35.2±13.6years, p<.001. The most significant difference in correlation wasthe thickness of the tendon and the midportion's width, which was more significant in the tendinopathy (r=.49 vs. r=.01, p<.001). The correlation was positivebetween width and length of the insertion butnegative in normal tendons (r=.21 vs. r=-.23, p<.001). The correlation wasbetween the midportions width in tendinopathy and the tendon's length butnegative in the normal tendon (r=.16 vs. r=-.23, p<.001). The average thickness of the midportion in tendinopathy was 11.2±3.3mm, and4.9±0.5mmin the control group, p<.001. The average width of the midportion and insertion was more extensive in the experimental group, 17.2±3.1mm vs. 14.7±1.8mm for the midportion and 31.0±3.9mm vs. 25.7±3.0mm for insertion, respectively, p<.001. The tendon's average length was longer in tendinopathy (83.5±19.3mm vs. 61.5±14.4mm, p<.001). The dimensions correlations in normal Achilles tendon and tendinopathic tendon differ significantly.
