  • Bengtsson, Lars, 1963 (författare)
  • Mikrodatorteknik
  • 1995

  • REMIND: A Framework for the Resilient Design of Automotive Systems
  • 2020
  • Bok (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
    • In the past years, great effort has been spent on enhancing the security and safety of vehicular systems. Current advances in information and communication technology have increased the complexity of these systems and lead to extended functionalities towards self-driving and more connectivity. Unfortunately, these advances open the door for diverse and newly emerging attacks that hamper the security and, thus, the safety of vehicular systems. In this paper, we contribute to supporting the design of resilient automotive systems. We review and analyze scientific literature on resilience techniques, fault tolerance, and dependability. As a result, we present the REMIND resilience framework providing techniques for attack detection, mitigation, recovery, and resilience endurance. Moreover, we provide guidelines on how the REMIND framework can be used against common security threats and attacks and further discuss the trade-offs when applying these guidelines.

  • Massive MIMO networks : spectral, energy, and hardware efficiency
  • 2017
  • Ingår i: Foundations and Trends® in Signal Processing. - Boston - Delft : Now Publishers Inc.. - 1932-8354 .- 1932-8346.
  • Bok (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
    • Massive multiple-input multiple-output (Massive MIMO) is the latest technology that will improve the speed and throughput of wireless communication systems for years to come. Whilst there may be some debate over the origins of the term Massive MIMO and what it precisely means, this monograph describes in detail how the research conducted in the past decades lead to a scalable multiantenna technology that offers great throughput and energy efficiency under practical conditions. Written for students, practicing engineers and researchers who want to learn the conceptual and analytical foundations of Massive MIMO, in terms of spectral, energy, and/or hardware efficiency, as well as channel estimation and practical considerations, it provides a clear and tutorial like exposition of all the major topics. It also connects the dots of the research literature covering numerous topics not easily found therein. Massive MIMO Networks is the first monograph on the subject to cover the spatial chan el correlation and consider rigorous signal processing design essential for the complete understanding by its target audience.

  • Optimal Resource Allocation in Coordinated Multi-Cell Systems
  • 2013
  • Ingår i: Foundations and Trends® in Communications and Information Theory. - : Now Publishers Inc. - 1567-2190 .- 1567-2328.
  • Bok (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The use of multiple antennas at base stations is a key component in the design of cellular communication systems that can meet high-capacity demands in the downlink. Under ideal conditions, the gain of employing multiple antennas is well-recognized: the data throughput increases linearly with the number of transmit antennas if the spatial dimension is utilized to serve many users in parallel. The practical performance of multi-cell systems is, however, limited by a variety of nonidealities, such as insufficient channel knowledge, high computational complexity, heterogeneous user conditions, limited backhaul capacity, transceiver impairments, and the constrained level of coordination between base stations. This tutorial presents a general framework for modeling different multi-cell scenarios, including clustered joint transmission, coordinated beamforming, interference channels, cognitive radio, and spectrum sharing between operators. The framework enables joint analysis and insights that are both scenario independent and dependent. The performance of multi-cell systems depends on the resource allocation; that is, how the time, power, frequency, and spatial resources are divided among users. A comprehensive characterization of resource allocation problem categories is provided, along with the signal processing algorithms that solve them. The inherent difficulties are revealed: (a) the overwhelming spatial degrees-of-freedom created by the multitude of transmit antennas; and (b) the fundamental tradeoff between maximizing aggregate system throughput and maintaining user fairness. The tutorial provides a pragmatic foundation for resource allocation where the system utility metric can be selected to achieve practical feasibility. The structure of optimal resource allocation is also derived, in terms of beamforming parameterizations and optimal operating points. This tutorial provides a solid ground and understanding for optimization of practical multi-cell systems, including the impact of the nonidealities mentioned above. The Matlab code is available online for some of the examples and algorithms in this tutorial.Note: The supplementary Matlab Code is available at http://dx.doi.org/10.1561/0100000069_supp

  • Structural Dynamics Control, Third Edition
  • 2020
  • Bok (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
    • Structural dynamics and especially one of its main problems, vibrations and vibration control, appear in vehicle engineering, high precision machines and mechanisms, robotics, civil engineering, wind turbines, biomechanics, and others. Over the last decades there has been much work concerned with the vibration control of different dynamical systems. The texbook “Structural Dynamics Control” aims at providing knowledge on modern methods and concepts of passive, semi-active and active vibration control, to cross the bridge between structural dynamics and control engineering, while providing an overview of the potential of smart materials, (magnetorheological fluids, magnetostrictive materials, and others), for sensing and actuating purposes in active vibration control. One of the aims of this textbook is to provide students and engineers with opportunity of becoming familiar with the standard methods of the classical calculus of variations, the linear quadratic regulator optimization methods, and modern optimal control theory with focus on their applications in structural dynamics for vibration attenuation and vibration suppression problems. The textbook consists of four main parts: Vibration dynamics, Passive and semi-active vibration control, Active and hybrid vibration control, and Applications. The textbook ends with the supplementary mathematics, list of Matlab codes and answers and hints for the exercises. The list of references consists of only those books and scientific papers which were used during preparation of the textbook or which have been recommended to stundents for additional information on a studied topic. The textbook is aimed at first towards graduate and postgraduate students following Master and PhD programmes related to structural dynamics, mechatronics, control engineering, automotive engineering, noise and vibrations. The only prerequisite for reading this book is basic knowledge in mechanics and some familiarity with vibrations, state space models and automatic control.
