  • "Here is the knowledge-where should I put it?" : Findings from a study of how knowledge spaces are used within a support group
  • 1999
  • Ingår i: Proceedings. IEEE 8th International Workshops on Enabling Technologies. - : IEEE. ; , s. 223-231
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • In order to design useful knowledge media spaces to knowledge workers it is essential that we understand the nature of the work conducted and the knowledge applied in real settings. This paper reports from a study of how a group of quality assurance specialists gather, structure and distribute information and knowledge. Based on the findings a number of overall requirements for knowledge mediaspaces are identified and discussed. The essential findingswere that information and knowledge are created and  handled in many different ways and have many differentforms. The core issues of our lessons learned so far are that we carefully need to consider knowledge media spaces both in terms of communication channels and knowledge archives. Knowledge media spaces should be seen as spaces in which knowledge and information is exchanged, filed, retrieved, presented and refined by actors having different vocabulary and perspectives on the knowledge. These characteristics must be taken into account when designing IT and multimedia based knowledge media spaces.

  • Differences between severely conduct-disordered juvenile males and normal juvenile males: the study of personality traits
  • 1999
  • Ingår i: Personality and Individual Differences. - Amsterdam : Elsevier. - 0191-8869 .- 1873-3549. ; 26:5, s. 827-845
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Personality traits among a group of 47 severely conduct-disordered (C-D) juvenile males from four Swedish national correctional institutions for serious offences were studied. The Karolinska Scales of Personality (KSP), the Eysenck Personality Questionnaire (EPQ-I), including an impulsivity scale from the Impulsiveness-Venturesomeness-Empathy (IVE) inventory, and the Zuckerman Sensation-Seeking Scales (SSS) form V, were administered to the C-D juveniles. The scores from the KSP for this group were compared to scores from a presentative group of 82 normal juvenile male subjects from the Swedish longitudinal research program Individual Development and Adaptation (IDA). Pearson product-moment correlations were calculated between the KSP scales and scales from the EPQ-I, and between the SSS and scales from the EPQ-I and KSP inventories. The C-D juveniles displayed notably higher scores than the mean normal scores on psychopathy-related personality scales. The present results are consistent with earlier findings concerning personality dimensions in adult criminal psychopaths: high scores on impulsivity and sensation seeking, and low scores on conformity reflected in low socialization and high psychoticism.

  • Självbedömningsskalor avslöjar psykopati [Self-rating scales reveal psychopathy]
  • 1998
  • Ingår i: Läkartidningen. - 0023-7205 .- 1652-7518. ; 95:5, s. 383-390
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Psychopathy is regarded as a dimensional concept - i.e., a person can be more or less psyhopathic. This approach enables psychopathy to be measured with reliable, validated personality scales, and to be related to impairment of serontonergic function in the brain. Several personality inventories are described in the article, especially the Karolinska Scales of Personality, the Zuckerman Sensation Seeking Scales, form V, the Eysenck Personality Questionnaire, including an impulsiveness scale from the IVE (Impulsiveness-Venturesomeness-Empathy) inventory, and the old dimensional scale, the Marke-Nyman Personality Temperament scale based on the personality theory of Henrik Sjöbring. In this way both old and new, and both Swedish and foreign personality concepts are linked together. Personality scales are easy to use and enable better stability and validity of results to be attained.

  • Doktorsavhandling (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
    • This study deals with the protectability of stage direction by copyright. According to the preparatory works relating to the Swedish Copyright Act, stage directors will normally fall within the category of interpreters of works, performing artists, rather than creators of works, authors. However, under special circumstances the director can be regarded as an author. The purpose of this study is to clarify the difference between the two categories of copyright protection and to examine the status of the stage director within that perspective. The study, in addition to Swedish and Scandinavian law, also looks at the French, German and US approaches to protection for stage directors. With respect to France and Germany, particular attention has been paid to the distinction between author and performing artist which is manifested in the context of assessing the status of the stage director. In the US no such distinction is made for the purpose of determining the stage director's protection. The comparison between authors and performing artists has shown that among the differences which are often advanced, there is only one of major importance: whereas the author and his work are separable, the opposite applies to the performing artist and his achievement. The director in this regard is similar to the author rather than the performing artist. The product of his effort - the stage direction - can exist independently of the director. It follows that the stage director needs protection which is essentially the same as that enjoyed by the author.

  • IT support in a Knowledge Management Process : A Field Study of a Quality Support Group in a Pharmaceutical Company
  • 1998
  • Ingår i: Proceedings of the Information Systems Research Seminar in Scandanavia IRIS22.
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • This study addresses the issue of knowledge management. The results are based on field study of a quality support group in a pharmaceutical company. Particularly, the knowledge work activities are analysed in a framework of a knowledge management process and its possibilities for IT-support. From the results I can conclude that mainly explicit knowledge is managed in this process. However, the specific use of two knowledge-mediating systems seems to be extremely important("the very lifeline") throughout this knowledge management process. Knowledge can be transferable and distributed electronically among dispersed co-workers,adaptable and tailor-made to the needs of different users, and applicable directly to practitioners. In a discussion of a more general IT-based knowledge management process I go beyond the specific use of these knowledge-mediating systems and try to identify some further needs and requirements
