- The works here analyzed show the ocean as a contested site of cultural production. We focus on the different forms in which oceanic ecopoetics surfaces submersed bodies and female voices; dissolves the “Portuguese sea” exposing how it has been storied; (em)braces the waves, attempting to shape other forms of language through listening and beckoning to aquatic vital forms and movements; and suggests re-compositions that engage with liquid toxicity. This discussion is structured to highlight the different strategies of this ecopoetics. We analyze formal strategies in the works of Brazilian poets Mar Becker, Júlia Hansen, Letícia Novaes (Letrux), Ana Martins Marques, Beatriz RGB and Nina Rizzi and Portuguese poets Sophia de Mello Breyner- Fiama Hasse Pais Brandão, Patrícia Lino and Inês Francisco Jacob, establishing formal connections and proximities between them.
