- NOVELTY - The non-cellular network has a lower energy resource efficiency for keeping a mobile terminal (30) reachable than cellular network and the data associated with existence from mobile terminal to cellular network is reported where access information is based on data associated with existence. USE - For providing call set-up to multi-access communication system using radio access network such as wireless code division multiple access (WCDMA) network, wireless local area network (WLAN), global system for mobile communication (GSM), general packet radio service (GPRS) and wireless personal area network (WPAN). ADVANTAGE - Minimum resource efficiency for keeping a terminal reachable by utilizing the most efficient choice of access network. The call set-up to the terminal, can be performed at a preferred access network without delay. Reduces the signal during the inactivity periods as well as during the actual call set-up procedure. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - INDEPENDENT CLAIMS are also included for the following: (1) mobile terminal connectable to multi-access communication system; and (2) node of access network of multi-access communication system. DESCRIPTION OF DRAWING(S) - The figure shows a block diagram of a multi-access communication system in a stand-by mode. base station (14) wireless local area network (20) beacon signals (26) mobile terminal (30) passive scanner (32)
