Learning beyond formal education in Africa : a selection of contributions to JOPEA 2017-2022

• This volume addresses research on adult learning and the circulation of knowledge beyondthe formal education systems in Sub-Saharan Africa. It is also a volume celebratingthe fact that Journal of Popular Education in Africa (JOPEA), founded in 2017, has existed fora half decade. To draw attention to this anniversary undersigned, together with professoremeritus Staffan Larsson, have been trusted by the editors of this Kenya-based journal toselect for re-publication a few articles published in the journal over the years. Larsson andI are both part of the Division of Education and Adult Learning at Linköping Universityin Sweden, one of the world’s most prominent university settings in the area of adultlearning. Both of us have also for several years been involved in various forms of collaborationswith colleagues in the field of adult education research on the African continent.
