Use of Evaluation Results in IT Evaluation : a Pre Study

• Expectations on investmenst in information technology (IT) may include financial returns, organizational effectiveness, personal efficiency, new ways to organize work, process improvements and more. IS research has therefore focused on evaluation of IT-investment for decades and there is an ongoing debate on how to utilize the IT assets. One theme in this discussion is betterment based on evaluation results. In this study a small sample of articles was investigated with focus on“use of evaluation results” and on “use of general evaluation concepts” . The study shows that betterment and learning via use of evaluation results are the most common suggestions and that use of general evaluation concepts and terms was absent.
