ACHRONIC VISITORS

• Achronic Visitors, by Chrysa Parkinson, is an interactive performance project created within Adrian Heathfield’s Ghost Telephone. In Achronic Visitors Parkinson asks gallery goers to imagine someone, with whom they are very familiar, has come to the gallery with them from the past or future. These imagined presences are invited to walk through the gallery and give their opinion, stories, memories and projections about the space, its art works, the time they live in…. During the course of the Sydney Biennale, Chrysa Parkinson ’met’ and memorized the trajectories and stories of 26 Achronic Visitors, creating a chain of past and future ghosts, linked in a collective haunting of the space.Ghost Telephone is a daily chain performance, comprised of new interlinked works from a set of internationally renowned artists. Working in situ in the museum the commissioned artists channel and transform the spirits of existing works in the collection and displays of the gallery. Each artist spends a week in residence with a selected artwork, attuning to its resonances and mutating its immaterial affects through their creative actions and words. The residency of each artist overlaps for several days with another artist, generating new correspondences and reverberations between the artists and their work.
