Język polski „pod strzechą” : Studia polonistyczne w dobie internetowej z perspektywy szwedzkiej

• Polish language “under a thatched roof”: A Swedish perspective on teaching Polish through Virtual Learning Environment (VLE).To state that the Internet nowadays plays an increasingly important role goes without saying.We use it every day, both as a source of information and in personal contacts in different social networks. Internet has mastered almost all areas of life, so it is not surprising that it is now an essential communication tool also for nearly any university in the world. No single course, especially in higher education, can function sufficiently without so called e-learning. The traditional education strategies must adopt to this trend, for good or for bad. The classic normative teaching, particularly in academia, is forced into a “co-existence” with teaching via Virtual Learning Environment (VLE). Internet, with its limitless possibilities is now – and should be – an integrated part of curriculum at all educational levels.This is precisely what my discussion focuses on. My comments and observations are based on experiences from my work as Polish language and culture scholar at the Department of Modern Languages at Uppsala University, which has, for several years, successfully held classes in Polish language and literature at all levels – exclusively via the Internet.
