Technology & management

• Technology is often left out when social scientists study management and social norms. Instead, technical aspects and norms have been left to engineers to study, but they are presently of major interest to organizational scholars. in this chapter, the mutual relationship between technology and issues of organizing and management is explored. Three phases which have dominated the research field over the last 80 years structures the discussion: the the sociotechnical school, technology as a deterministic force, and the recursive construction of technology and organizing.
