• A genre historical investigation of the use of romance- and melodramatic strategies in early Swedish working-class literature. One male and one female example is chosen. The analysis shows that these strategies at this period are well compatible with a class perspective; further, that the usefulness of these strategies seem gender-neutral; and finally that the function of the strategies are to awake a deepened reflection on the theem of the narrative.
