Tvåspråkig lexikografi – ny teknik, nya funktioner. Den digitala ordboken som parallellkorpus

• This article illustrates how the bilingual electronic dictionary can function as a parallel corpus and as such provide a basis for various linguistic studies. The dictionary in question is the online multilingual Islex dictionary, here used as a bilingual Icelandic-Swedish dictionary. The generous access to the different information categories, encoded in the dictionary, makes the examples just as accessible as the traditional lexical entry, and target language units of different kinds are as easy to reach as the source language units. Here, all the occurrences of the Icelandic idiom koma í ljós and their translations are reviewed, and the semantic and syntactic properties of the idiom and their equivalents are briefly described as well as similarities and differences in the information structure in Icelandic vs. Swedish.
