The Paris Opera in 1750 - 1751 - An attempt at an annual report

• The year 1750 is the first year with a large amount of financial and statistical data archived for the Paris Opera following the transfer of its management from the Royal Household and its entrepreneurs to the City of Paris. The city hoped for a bright operatic future. As is shown here it started with small loss. However, deficits grew substantially every year until the opera was returned to the Royal Household in 1780 . The research objective is to create a modern annual report for 1750, making use of all the archived performance and financial data.
