"The Ecocriticism of the Future: Research as Radical Political Action"

• Ecocriticism as an academic discipline has to a great extent become abstract, intellectual and descriptive. Even though ecocritical analyses sometimes identify the political structures that underlie climate change and global environmental change, they will not take action; they are, rather, an embodiment of the very system they call into question. It is imperative to explore how ecocriticism might instead contribute to political action, a project which can find inspiration in how environmentalist popular culture imagines systemic change.
