  • 1. 1. In dog peroneal nerves the rate of axoplasmic transport of AChE-containing particles was not altered by prolonged repetitive stimulation at 110/sec when over 1,500,000 nerve impulses had been generated. 2. 2. The direction of impulse conduction had no effect on polar differences in accumulation of AChE at the proximal and distal ends of the isolated nerve segment. 3. 3. The apparent independence between action potentials and axoplasmic streaming in nerve fibres contrasts sharply with the arrest of streaming caused by stimulation of plant cells. © 1969.
