- Commissioned Musical suites to the Dance performances “Träden” (The Trees) and “Gläntan” (The Glade) which are part of Embla Dance and Theatre project “Green Movement Lab”. “Green Movement Lab” and these performances are funded by Kulturrådet (Swedish Arts Council). In addition, Embla Dance and Theatre is supported by Göteborgs kommun (City of Gothenburg) and Region Västra Götaland. Green Movement Lab works with the climate crisis from a relational perspective, a more equal relationship between humans and nature. In the project, we want to approach the possibility of a bodily and sensory approach to nature, take the perspective of the trees and protect our coexistence. The musical compositions are created from acoustic instruments, samplings and electronics which has been processed and arranged in software programs Logic and Ableton. Similar sounds were used to both performances, however with different approach. “Träden” (The Trees) is performed outdoors with dancers, musicians, and recorded sounds. These sounds were used as a foundation to live played woodwinds and percussion. The performance wants to show a possible way to create a real difference, through an increased connection to the trees and nature. Climate research points out a stronger connection to nature as something that can slow down the prevailing negative development. “Gläntan”(The Glade) which premiered at Atalante Theatre, invites to an immersive audio-visual experience, sensual, and poetic space where the dancers and the audience are surrounded by video, sound, and dance. Through a concentrated section of nature, the performance provides a heightened artistic experience of trees and, at the same time, focuses on the coexistence between humans and nature. The performance takes its starting point in Anna Wennerbeck´s three-year research project around trees, choreography and climate issues seen from a relational perspective, a more equal relationship between humans and nature. The text is based on highly current tree research through a collaboration with researchers in central France.
