- To create a medical context from the simulation, it is important to reconstruct medical practitioners and medical practices out of the users and simulator exercises. This chapter explores how instructors can do so by creating legitimacy for the medical practices being taught on simulators; embedding simulator training in existing educational courses; creating patient bodies for simulators which lack full body mannequins, and incorporating the co-participating patient and the extended patient into anesthesiology simulations. This chapter, which is based on extensive study of three simulators in use, asks how instructors can turn simulator practice into medical practice and provides some concrete suggestions that can help instructors and students turn their simulator training into valuable medical training.
