- This paper contains the analysis of the transmission problem with a spherical,dielectric (possibly lossy) shell. The sources to the problem are located insidethe spherical, dielectric shell. Two different source configurations are investigated- an off-center located electric dipole and a circular Huygens surface.An exact modal series solution of the transmission problem is found and thesolution is numerically illustrated for a series of shell thicknesses. The accuracyof the solution is tested by a power balance computation, which typicallygives at least 10 significant figures.
