- The paper examines the reception of and revisions made to the teachings of the Italian astrologer-monk Placido de Titi (1603 – 1668) in Protestant England following the decline of astrology during the 18th century, particularly as found in the writings of John Worsdale (1766 – c. 1826), whose role in the emergence of modern astrology is to a certain extent reappraised, and of his contemporary critic Thomas Oxley (1789 – 1851).
