Shallow burial of district heating pipes

• The aim with this paper was to study if the investment costs for district heating installations in suburban areas can be lowered with more rational construction work. A field trial was done with four twin pipes of dimension 2xDN32/160 laid between 600 mm and 180 mm below the asphalt surface in a road with heavy traffic. The conclusion is that shallow burial lowers the investment costs and is technically possible if the road structure is properly built.
