    • Det bedrivs alltför lite mediehistorisk forsk­ning i Sverige. Mediehistoria kan – och bör – skrivas på många olika sätt. En ambition inom den kulturhistoriska medieforskning som presenteras i den kommande boken, Återkopplingar, är att genom ett breddat mediebegrepp och historisk sensi­bilitet uppdatera mediestudiet. Förnyelsen sker inte sällan i skärningspunkten mellan den ofta teknikdeterministiska mediearkeologin och den historiskt lika anspråksfulla som problematiska medialiseringsteorin.I denna bok presenteras 19 mediehistoriska texter som behandlar medieformer som skrivbord, papper, affischer, kassetter, fisheye­ linser, radio, telegraf, film, smarta telefoner, litografier, dagstidningar, mikrofilm, begagna­ de mp3­-filer, krigsbyten, biblioteksbyggnader och ölkrus. I boken presenteras en rad sam­tida perspektiv på förflutna medier – allt i form av en icke-­linjär växelverkan mellan nu och då – därav titeln: Återkopplingar.

    • In this study, 110 Swedish upper secondary students use a historical database designed for research. We analyze how they perceive the use of this digital tool in teaching and if they are able to use historical thinking and historical empathy in their historical writing and presentations. Using case-study methodology including questionnaires, observations, interviews and text analysis we find this to be a complex task for students. Our results highlight technological problems and problems in contextualizing historical evidence. However, students show interest in using primary sources and ability to use historical thinking and historical empathy, especially older students in more advanced courses when they have time to reflect upon the historical material.

    • In this paper we describe the results from interviews with science teachers in lower secondary school. The teachers were asked what they wanted to achieve with laboratory work, what difficulties they experienced and if there were any differences between lab work in biology, chemistry and physics. The results show that the teachers wanted lab work to help the students develop their understanding, to make them interested and to develop their laboratory skills. Some of the teachers described lab work that included scientific inquiry but not, specifically, knowledge about how to systematically investigate phenomena in nature. Aspects of nature of science were rare. Lack of time to discuss with the students during lab work was seen as one difficulty which resulted in problems for students to linkobservables to scientific ideas. Laboratory exercises in chemistry were often regarded too abstract while lab work in physics and biology were much easier to link to everyday life.

    • I denna artikel sätts elvaåriga barns varierande användning av skrift i fokus. Syftet är att beskriva och reflektera över barns vardagliga skrifthändelser och i vilken mån de förekommer i skolans skriftpraktik. Inledningsvis redovisas skriftbruk ur ett teoretiskt perspektiv följt av ett metodavsnitt. Därefter följer en presentation av barnens vardagliga skriftbruk och vissa utvalda händelser i skolans skriftpraktik. Artikeln avslutas med en reflektion över elevernas vardagliga skriftpraktik och skolans skriftpraktik.

    • This quantitative and qualitative analysis of syllabuses indicates difficulties in the relation between history teaching in upper secondary schools and in higher education. Using analytical tools stemming from research of education and history didactics we highlight problematic differences between universities. It is evident that history education in many ways lacks a progression from upper secondary school to higher education. Judging from the formulations in the syllabuses, the grading demands on the students in upper secondary schools are in some cases even higher than in the universities. The results from this study suggest a need for further analysis of the teaching of history, and other subjects, in higher education in relation to teaching in upper secondary schools.
