- Dissonant Voices has a twofold aspiration. First, it is a philosophical treatment of everyday pedagogical interactions between children and their elders, between teachers and pupils. More specifically it is an exploration of the possibilities to go on with dissonant voices that interrupt established practices – our attunement – in behaviour, practice and thinking. Voices that are incomprehensible or expressions that are unacceptable, morally or otherwise. The text works on a tension between two inclinations: an inclination to wave off, discourage, or change an expression that is unacceptable or unintelligible; and an inclination to be tolerant and accept the dissonant expression as doing something worthwhile, but different.The second aspiration is a philosophical engagement with children’s literature. Reading children’s literature becomes a form of philosophising, a way to explore the complexity of a range of philosophical issues. This turn to literature marks a dissatisfaction with what philosophy can accomplish through argumentation and what philosophy can do with a particular and limited set of concepts for a subject, such as ethics. It is a way to go beyond philosophising as the founding of theories that justify particular responses. The philosophy of dissonance and children’s literature becomes a way to destabilise justifications of our established practices and ways of interacting.The philosophical investigations of dissonance are meant to make manifest the possibilities and risks of engaging in interactions beyond established agreement or attunements. Thinking of the dissonant voice as an expression beyond established practices calls for improvisation. Such improvisations become a perfectionist education where both the child and the elder, the teacher and the student, search for as yet unattained forms of interaction and take responsibility for every word and action of the interaction.The investigation goes through a number of picture books and novels for children such as Harry Potter, Garmann’s Summer, and books by Shaun Tan, Astrid Lindgren and Dr. Seuss as well narratives by J.R.R. Tolkien, Henrik Ibsen, Jane Austen and Henry David Thoreau. These works of fiction are read in conversation with philosophical works of, and inspired by, Ludwig Wittgenstein and Stanley Cavell, their moral perfectionism and ordinary language philosophy.

Den här boken argumenterar istället för att historiens medier utvecklats tillsammans.Nya former, tekniker och praktiker har interagerat med gamla, innehåll har cirkulerat medierna emellan och rader av aktörer har aktivt relaterat till en helhet av uttrycksformer. Denna helhet var konturfast på ett vis som gör det befogat att tala om ett historiskt mediesystem: summan av en viss tids medier och deras inbäddning i sociala, politiska och ekonomiska villkor. I ett antal delstudier prövar boken möjligheterna att på närgången empirisk nivå undersöka 1800-talets mediesystem.

- The Swedish Research School in Social Work (RSSW) was initiated in 2008, as collaboration between all Swedish universities with post-graduate education in Social Work. The intention was to assemble a broader basis for subject specific postgraduate courses, to strengthen the identity of Social Work as a postgraduate subject and to work for an international collaboration.This report describes the PhD students in social work and their experience of attending RSSW-courses. The report addresses how support, such as tutoring, affect participation in RSSW-courses and also highlights various aspects of the future, as the doctoral students’ future career paths.Results of the study reveal that tutoring situation, gender, and age, among other things, affect the participation in and experience of RSSW. The study also shows that the subject orientations and course needs of doctoral students in Social Work are broad and varying. It is further a large part of the doctoral student group who would consider a future career outside the academy, which raises the question of where the scientific knowledge in the long run end up and what that means for the development of Social Work as a subject.

- This dissertation analyses social critique, communication critique and aestheticalcritique in television produced by artists. Theoretically it draws on researchon alternative media, TV studies, especially genre analysis and narratology,and media aesthetics. It conducts a text-production study of three examplesof alternative television from the period 2004-2008: ContemporaryArt Center TV (CAC TV): A show produced by the CAC in Vilnius, Lithuaniaand aired on a commercial TV-channel; Good TV who aired video art ona local public access channel in Stockholm, Sweden; and Candyland TV, apirate transmission from an art gallery in central Stockholm.Empirically it builds on TV-texts, web sites and documents, as well asinterviews with participants. Through a study of form and stylistics, relationto conventional genres and modes of narration, it engages in a discussionabout the features of a critical, alternative media text.The study shows how these televisions work in a tradition of alternativetelevision and connects them to tactics and aesthetical forms as found inhistorical examples, but also how this type of formalist media critiquemight inform an understanding of alternative media. From the analysis ofrelations between social and formalist aspects of alternative television, adistinction between alternative as ”alternative worldview” and as ”alternativeexpressions” is suggested, a distinction that contributes to the developmentof theory in the study of alternative media.

Kritikerna talar om vanvård och menar att äldreomsorg inte lämpar sig för marknadslösningar. I rapporten analyserar forskarna förutsättningarna för att nå god kvalitet och effektivt resursutnyttjande vid marknadsliknande lösningar i äldreomsorgen. De frågor som diskuteras i rapporten är bl.a.:Hur fungerar den svenska äldreomsorgsmarknaden?Under vilka förutsättningar kan valfrihet och konkurrens förbättra omsorgen?Vilka krav kan och bör ställas på äldreomsorgens utförare?Vilken betydelse har brukarval för omsorgens kvalitet?
