- We present the development on an ultra-wideband (UWB) radar system and its signal processing algorithms for detecting human breathing and heartbeat in the paper. The UWB radar system consists of two (Tx and Rx) antennas and one compact CMOS UWB transceiver. Several signal processing techniques are developed for the application. The system has been tested by real measurements. .

- The ACE project initiated the start of several integration activities between European institutions involved in electromagnetic modeling of antennas with planar or conformal topologies. The goal of the integration activities was / is not to create a global software package that integrates the software of all partners, but to initiate a long term process for antenna software integration activities within the European antenna community. During the first two years of ACE the integration activities were performed in several groups with a rather small number of partners in each group. The groups were formed by partners who wanted to integrate a specific approach developed by one partner into the software code of another partner. This allows increasing the capability and efficiency of a software code. In this paper a short overview of all integration activities is given.

- With the development of the fifth generation (5G) communications, dual-polarization base station antennas have increasingly attracted a lot of attention. In this paper, a broadband high-efficiency dual-polarized capped bow-tie antenna array is presented. Simulation results show that the bandwidth of the proposed antenna is 24-36.8 GHz, with its return loss better than 10 dB and the stable coverage. The directivities vary from 8 to 12dBi and the relative cross-polar level is below -10dB over the most of band. It has a simple and compact structure, and is ready to be extended for large array antennas with massive MIMO performance used in 5G communications.

- The 60GHz short-range wireless communication system has gained a lot of attention because it can offer high rate data communications with the free-licensed band. Development of wideband, high gain, compact 60GHz antennas is a crucial issue in the system. We present a concept of a new wideband thin planar antenna, the Sheet Waveguide Element (SWE) antenna with gap waveguide technology, for 60GHz communication systems in the paper. This antenna can operate over a wideband with a very thin configuration and have a potential to have very low manufacture cost.

- We present a new compact multiband antenna for stroke diagnosis systems over 0.5–3 GHz—the miniaturized self-grounded Bow-Tie antenna in a compact water-filled cylindrical bolus. A prototype of the antenna has been manufactured. Simulated and measured results have shown a low reflection coefficient, directional radiation characteristic, and a low radiation leakage-out ratio of the antenna.
