Analysing Twitter Discourse on Extreme Events and Climate Change Using Quantitative Research Methods and Applying Theoretical Interpretations

Other publication (peer-reviewed)abstract
- This method case study describes how we extracted and analyzed data from Twitter as part of a research project to investigate how users connected climate change to extreme weather events during 2008–2017. The paper describes how the open-source tool, Mecodify, was used as a fundamental part of the method to download data from Twitter and identify key insights through tables, graphs and machine-readable files. The paper goes into detail to describe the steps that were taken from the building the search query to analyzing, aggregating, and visualizing the data used to describe the findings. Although Mecodify facilitated the process significantly, the paper highlights some of the challenges that were confronted during different research stages and how they were overcome. The aim is to provide social media researchers with some useful insights for their own research.

Korsettkriget : modeslaveri och kvinnokamp vid förra sekelskiftet [Utställning]
- 2019
-
Other publication (pop. science, debate, etc.)abstract

On 7-D TFT and 6-D chiral CFT
- 2002
-
Other publication (pop. science, debate, etc.)abstract
- We perform a canonical and BRST analysis of a seven-dimensional Chern-Simons theory on a manifold with boundary. The main result is that the 7D theory induces for consistency a chiral two-form on the 6D boundary. We also comment on similar behaviour in a five-dimensional Chern-Simons theory relevant for $\N=4$ supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory in four dimensions.

Feasible estimation of generalized linear mixed models (GLMM) with weak dependency between groups
- 2010
-
Other publication (other academic/artistic)abstract
- This paper presents a two-step pseudo likelihood estimation for generalized linear mixed models with the random effects being correlated between groups. The core idea is to deal with the random intractable integrals in the likelihood function by multivariate Taylor's approximation. The accuracy of the estimation technique is assessed in a Monte-Carlo study: An application of it with binary response variable is presented using a real dara set on credit defaults from two Swedish banks. Thanks to the use of two-step estimation technique, the proposed algorithm outperforms conventional likelihood algoritms in terms of computational time.

Above All Else, Do Not Snitch : Constructing Criminal Identities and Negotiating Masculinities in Aggression Replacement Training
- 2008
-
Other publication (other academic/artistic)abstract
- In the present article, the issue of snitching is analysed as part of a convict code, drawn upon by young men detained for assessment at a youth detention home and participating in Aggression Replacement Training (ART). ART is viewed in light of other research on peer interventions. The analysis shows how sticking to the convict code facilitates positioning oneself as knowledgeable within a field of criminality. Perhaps more important, however, is how drawing on the code regulates the relationship to other men and polices one's own behaviour, as well as that of others. Both the trainers and the young men can be seen to use different discourses of masculinity as interactional resources.
