- This book is about the Swedish manuscript culture in the Middle Ages. The primary aim is to discuss how different types of manuscripts written in the vernacular were used in the Swedish Middle Ages. A secondary aim is to discuss different methods of analysis for the interpretation of a manuscript culture.Twenty miscellaneous manuscripts are analyzed from a New Philological point of view. The analyses deal with both the understanding of the content as a whole in a medieval manuscript, and the interpretation of the codicology. The analyses show that the aim and functions of manuscripts can be traced by a close reading of formal texts as rubrics, introductions and conclusions. They also show that the layout of a manuscript is related to its use. For instance, layout and certain formula words can tell us whether the manuscripts is intended for silent reading or for a listening audience.The importance of analysing a manuscript as a whole is stressed throughout the book. This is the only way we can learn to understand the role of individual manuscripts in the Middle Ages. The book also points to the need for editions of whole manuscripts in the future. Without these we may never understand why a given manuscript was written.

- The aim of this study was to evaluatethe test-retest reliability of theSwedish version of the ShoulderRating Questionnaire - SRQ-S.This self-rating scale comprises21 questions, divided into sevenweighted domains concerninghealth, pain, daily activities, recreationaland athletic activities, work,satisfaction and areas for improvement.The Shoulder Rating Questionnairewas fi rst translated intoSwedish and slightly adapted. Itwas then sent twice to 38 patientswith clinically stable shoulder disordersat an Orthopaedic Clinicin Sweden. The majority of theanswers were identical or almostidentical on both occasions. Theagreement of the total score wasexcellent (both rs and ICC=0.97).All domains, except ‘recreationaland athletic activities’, also showedan excellent agreement (rs 0.90-0.97, ICC 0.88-0.97). Individualquestions resulted in a very highweighted Kappa value for sevenof the questions (0.81-1.0), elevenquestions with a substantial value(0.61-0.80) and three moderatevalues (0.41-0.60). We concludethat the questions posed wereeasily understood and answeredand that the SRQ–S is test-retestreliable. These qualities wouldmake it a useful instrument for theassessment of the outcome of treatmentof shoulder disorders.

- According to records kept by The Swedish Child Diabetes Register the incidence of childhood diabetes type I before 15 years of age has increased. The increase is most noticeable in children before the age of 5. The genetic basis of this disease is complex and the different risk genes have a low penetrance, thus indicating non-genetic factors to have a great impact. One risk factor for type I diabetes is rapid growth, measured either as weight or as height gain. As a high standard of living favours rapid growth in children this may contribute to the onset of the disease.

- Uppföljning och utvärdering är nu på agendan även för socialtjänstens vidkommande vilket ökar behovet av enkla användarvänliga och strukturerade dokumentationsmetoder. En viktig fråga i det sammanhanget är klientens acceptans för sådana inslag i det sociala arbetet. I följande studie har ASI-intervjun prövats med avseende på hur den påverkar relationen till socialarbetaren och klienternas förtroende för socialtjänsten.
