- Purpose: Lymph node status is one of the most important prognostic factors in muscle-invasive bladder cancer. The extent of lymphadenectomy performed in conjunction with cystectomy and the question as to whether this is a staging or therapeutic intervention are matters of discussion. The aim of this study was to evaluate the sentinel node (SN) concept and to correlate findings with tumour status in excised regional lymph nodes. Material and method: 26 patients scheduled for cystectomy were investigated with preoperative lymphoscintigraphy, peroperative dye detection (Patent Blue) and dynamic lymphoscintigraphy (Nanocoll or Albures 50 MBq/ml). The substances were injected adjacent to the tumour in the detrusor muscle. Results: Sentinel nodes were detected in 21 of the 26 of the investigated patients. 7/21 SN were located outside the obturator fossa. Of the eight patients with lymph node metastasis, five displayed metastasis in lymph nodes outside the obturator fossa. There was one false negative SN in a patient with multifocal tumour, while in the other seven patients with lymph node metastasis, these were detected in the SN. Conclusion: Sentinel node detection is possible in most cases of bladder cancer scheduled for cystectomy. The significance of utilizing this method to detect lymph node metastasis outside the obturator fossa warrants further investigation.

- Das Thema dieses Beitrags ist die Übersetzung deutscher Partizipialkonstruktionen ins Schwedische – ein Thema, dem die bisherige Forschung kaum Aufmerksamkeit geschenkt hat. Die Studie ist sowohl quantitativer als auch qualitativer Natur. Als Korpus dienen deutsche Sachprosatexte und ihre schwedischen Übersetzungen, von denen anzunehmen ist, dass sie im Einklang mit den entsprechenden deutschen beziehungsweise schwedischen Gebrauchsnormen verfasst wurden, eher als dass sie einen spezifischen Autorenstil reflektieren.Anhand der quantitativen Analyse wird untersucht, ob und inwiefern eine Korrelation zwischen dem Subtyp der Partizipialkonstruktion und der gewählten Übersetzungsstrategie besteht. Ausgehend von den intuitiven Annahmen der einschlägigen Literatur wäre in den schwedischen Übersetzungen ein größerer Anteil an finiten Strukturen zu erwarten, die zur semantischen und syntaktischen Explizierung führen könnten. Das Ergebnis der Studie zeigt allerdings, dass die Übersetzer im hohen Ausmaß nach Strukturerhalt streben. Als frequenteste Übersetzungsstrategie kann die Verwendung einer entsprechenden Partizipialkonstruktion belegt werden, aber auch das strukturerhaltende Adjektiv stellt eine häufig vorkommende Strategie dar. Für die Strategienwahl spielt in der Tat der Subtyp der Partizipialkonstruktion eine Rolle, vor allem im Hinblick auf deren Komplexität. So werden Partizipialkonstruktionen in der schwedischen Übersetzung viel öfter verwendet, wenn der Originaltext eine einfache Partizipialkonstruktion aufweist. Dagegen sind finite Strukturen viel häufiger bei der Übersetzung von erweiterten Konstruktionen. Vorangestellte Partizipialattribute werden dabei oft durch einen Relativsatz wiedergegeben und die freistehenden adverbialen Partizipialkonstruktionen nicht selten durch Hauptsatzstrukturen.

- Giving speeches in parliament is a key element of elected representatives for signalling their policy agenda and their ideological positions to their party and their electorate. Taking a specific programmatic position might increase the chances of an MP to get re-nominated and to win again a seat in the legislature. In this paper, we build on approaches of responsive behaviour of political actors and on principal agent theories and ask which variables can explain the programmatic positions adopted by MPs in their speeches. To answer our research question, we collected all speeches related to economic policy issues given by members of the German Bundestag in the time period between 1998 and 2002. We estimated their individual policy positions with computerised methods of content analysis. We combine this data with information on the characteristics of MPs, their position in party, parliament and government and, in addition, with the socioeconomic structure and former election results within the MPs' constituency. The results show that German MPs take the characteristics and the economic problem pressure of their constituencies into account when speaking in parliament, so that there is empirical evidence for responsive and vote-seeking behaviour of German MPs. In addition, political and institutional factors like the membership in committees or in (former) cabinets and the way how an MP was elected - directly or by party list - play a role for the degree of MP's programmatic deviation from the party line.

- This contribution questions the influential interpretation that strong unions and centralized wage bargaining facilitate wage restraint and that during the postwar period wage restraint was an important cause of strong economic growth performance. This view is contrasted with a power-oriented perspective that sees strong unions as conducive to redistribution from capital to labour, rather than wage restraint. The paper uses data on wages and productivity from 1950 to 2010 for Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands, and shows that there has been more wage restraint after 1980 than before, and not more with more bargaining centralization. The results support the power-oriented understanding of wage bargaining institutions and suggest that the causes of wage restraint, its effects on investments and inequality should be reconsidered.
