- The aim of this paper is to summarize the results of the study of the numismatic evidence on the Roman colony of Dium from Augustus (27 BC - AD 14) to Hadrian (AD 117-138), conducted for the purposes of an MA thesis. The numismatic material concerns both the coinage produced by Dium and the coins of other issuing authorities that were discovered during the excavations at the administrative and commercial center of Dium, as well as at the sanctuaries extra muros. The presentation of the excavation coins attempts to offer an insight into the range of financial transactions and the parallel use of imperial and provincial coins within a Roman colony in the Greek East.

- Schooling is currently facing unprecedented challenges, requiring revision of prevailing thinking and organization of learning. The pedagogical philosophy of the school institution was of another kind, when the teacher and the 'textbook' constituted unique and authentic sources of knowledge. The conditions of the learning environment in our time are just different and challenging. Our societies are now multicultural, the knowledge diverse and new technologies of production, processing and dissemination of information overwhelming national entrenchments. Instructors might bear responsibilities and tasks for which they are not sufficiently prepared. The content of this paper is an attempt to reflect upon teaching as a concept and as a pedagogical approach with reference to the classic didactical questions, as well as knowledge profile and skills necessary to be(come) a good teacher.

- Ένα κεντρικό ζήτημα που απασχολεί τις οργανωμένες κοινωνίες από τη σύστασή τους είναι πως θα μεταβιβάσουν στις επόμενες γενιές ό,τι συλλογικά σημαντικό και αξιόλογο έχουν μάθει, επινοήσει και δημιουργήσει, δηλ. την πολιτιστική τους κληρονομιά. Από την προβιομηχανική εποχή, όπου η διαδικασία μεταβίβασης της πολιτιστικής κληρονομιάς περιορίζονταν στα πλαίσια της μικρής κοινωνίας του αγροτικού οικισμού, μέχρι τις μέρες μας όπου ολόκληρη η ανθρωπότητα κινείται στο γαλαξία της παγκοσμιοποίησης και της «κοινωνικής επιτάχυνσης», η εκπαίδευση και η μάθηση αποτελούν σημαντικό παράγοντα επιβίωσης, εξέλιξης και ευημερίας. Η εξελικτική πορεία των αντιλήψεων για το τι είναι γνώση, τι πρέπει να γνωρίζει κανείς και ποιοι είναι αυτοί, που μπορούν και πρέπει να μαθαίνουν και να εκπαιδεύονται, συνιστά ιστορία διαρκών συγκρούσεων και αγώνων. Η έκβασή τους μας προίκισε σήμερα με την ιδεολογία και πράξη της Δια Βίου Μάθησης. Στo παρόν κείμενο επιχειρείται η προσέγγιση του λόγου της Δια Βίου Μάθησης μέσα από δυο οπτικές γωνίες. Η πρώτη αναφέρεται στο φιλοσοφικό – αξιακό της υπόβαθρο αναφορικά με την αντίληψή της για τον άνθρωπο και τη γνώση. Η δεύτερη εστιάζει στην πολιτική ή πολιτικές της Δια Βίου Μάθησης, ιδωμένης σε σχέση με τη συμβολή της στην οικονομική και πολιτιστική ανάπτυξη των κοινωνιών όπου λαμβάνει χώρα, την »απασχολησιμότητα « του εργατικού δυναμικού και την δημοκρατική ευαισθητοποίηση και παιδεία αυτόνομων, ελεύθερων και ενεργών πολιτών.

- This paper presents the round table speeches and discussions on the theme "University Pedagogy: Thoughts, Proposals, Reflections", at the 2nd International Workshop on Applied Didactics: "Teaching Trends and Challenges in Contemporary Learning Environments". In order to achieve the active and experiential engagement of all participants, a process inspired by The Science Café movement has been applied. Participants were invited to send short comments and questions regarding the issue of University Pedagogy/Teaching and learning in Higher Education. These comments were collected, categorized and discussed immediately after the predetermined speeches, which are presented extensively herein with the following titles: "University Pedagogy: Tracing Teaching in Higher Education", "University Pedagogy in Practice: An Epistemological and Didactical Approach" and "University Pedagogy in Greece: findings of empirical research". The participants then participated in an open discussion based on the questions they had asked before, but also after the prepared lectures. The review of all the contributions during the conversation and the submitted proposals conclude that University Pedagogy can be a powerful means of enhancing the quality of Greek Higher Education, provided that: a) university institutions invest in the continuous improvement of the teaching skills of their staff, and (b) university professors have incentives and the readiness to engage in teaching and learning based on a scientific ground and well-tried methods.

- The archaeological fieldwork of the Finnish Institute at Athens in Arethousa, Paliambela, was conducted between 1999 and 2004 in co-operation with the 9th Byzantine Ephorate in Thessaloniki, the Greek Ministry of Culture and the International Committee for the Conservation of Mosaics. The aims of the Finnish project were to study the history of the Early Christian church and the site, to document and consolidate the pavements and walls found since 1994, and to prepare a plan for the future conservation, preservation and maintenance of the site. The conservation of the mosaic pavements was carried out from 2000 to 2003, and the conservation and treatment of the walls in 2004. Several field reports and analyses of the mosaic floors and their conservation have been published since the year 2000. The first larger synthesis of the results of the Finnish archaeological project in Arethousa, "The Early Christian Basilica of Arethousa in Macedonia I. Production, Consumption and Trade", was published in 2017 in the series "Papers and Monographs of the Finnish Institute at Athens".
