  • Initiating building projects: clients' and architects' front-end management of projects
  • 2008
  • Reports (other academic/artistic)abstract
    • The early stages, which occur both prior to and as a part of the planning of a construction or civil engineering project, are often decisive in determining the success of a project. In many cases, the prerequisites for a project are decided upon before it is formulated. The early stages are both a creative and a systematic product-definition and design process. The way in which these initial phases are planned and implemented, those involved and the ways in which they participate are important questions on which relatively little research or writing has yet been done.We hope that this book will be able to shed greater light on vital questions con¬cerning these initial phases. The book is written for clients and others stakeholders such as planners, architects, consultants and contractors, whom clients need to involve in their planning and preparatory work in the very earliest stages. The aim is both to share knowledge about these early stages and to inspire the further development of work methods and cooperation during these stages. The author of the book is Nina Ryd, architect SAR/MSA and Ph.D. She works at Chalmers University of Technology at the department of Architecture. The con¬cluding chapter on procurement was written by Staffan Carenholm.A reference group has also contributed their opinions and reflections on the work and have actively followed and influenced its development while it was being carried out during 2007 and the early part of 2008. The panel included Sven Fristedt, architect SAR/MSA, Posten AB, Christer Wadelius, architect SAR/MSA, former Director General of National Property Board, Owe Swanson, architect SAR/MSA, White Arkitekter AB, Stefan Sandesten, CEO, Swedish Construction Clients Forum, Svante Berg, architect SAR/MSA, Berg Arkitekter AB, Anna Rolf, architect SAR/MSA, BSK Arkitekter AB, Ola Göransson, architect SAR/MSA, SandellSandberg AB, Kristian Ericsson, architect SAR/MSA, Veidekke AB, Anna Montgomery, architect SAR/MSA, Locum AB and Staffan Carenholm, Managing Director, Swedish Association of Architects. The project has been carried out in collaboration with the Swedish Construction Clients Forum and the Swedish Association of Architects and has been made possible by a grant by the National Board of Housing, Building and Planning.

  • Internationell Byggherrebevakning: Med fokus på byggherrerollens framtida utmaningar
  • 2013
  • Reports (other academic/artistic)abstract
    • Samhällsbyggnadssektorn står inför många utmaningar i form av urbanisering, energieffektivisering, klimat- och demografiförändringar m.m. Därtill framtida i dag okända utmaningar.

  • 2005
  • Reports (other academic/artistic)abstract

  • 2024
  • Reports (other academic/artistic)abstract
    • More Digitalized Rural Businesses – The Path Forward…This project targeted business promoters and Small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs), including micro-enterprises, within the green sectors (primarily agriculture and food). The project has:• Assessed the needs and opportunities for support for the target group micro and small enterprises in the green sectors.• Evaluated the offerings of business promoters aimed at increasing the digital maturity of this target group.• Highlighted experiences from digitalization in other industries and adapted a tool to digitalize SMEs in agriculture and food. The European Union aims to accelerate the digital transformation of small and medium-sized enterprises through a network of European Digital Innovation Hubs (EDIH) to enhance their competitiveness. However, how can this be best achieved for rural businesses? The project demonstrated how companies in primary production can benefit from the EDIH network. The long-term goal of the project was to increase the digital maturity of Swedish micro and small enterprises in rural areas, contributing to increased production with robust economic, social, and environmental sustainability. Another goal was to enhance collaboration among business promotion actors to better understand how they can assist micro and small enterprises in rural areas to embrace the opportunities of digitalizationThe project compared the support needs of SMEs and micro-enterprises in the green sectors in rural areas with the available support from business promoters. This comparison identified certain gaps that business promoters can address to develop and improve their offerings. The project disseminated knowledge about digitalization experiences from other industries and adapted a tool to further digitalize SMEs in agriculture and food. This tool is well-suited for use by EDIHs and has been shared with various business promoters. The project also compared the contributions of an EDIH focused on the needs of the target group with other initiatives aimed at the same group.

  • Process för bred analys av kunskapsbehov inom jordbruket
  • 2021
  • Reports (other academic/artistic)abstract
    • Process to identify and prioritise farmers knowledge needs for the Swedish agriculture. Several studies have pointed out gaps and shortcomings in the knowledge chain in Swedish agriculture (Swedish Board of Agriculture 2019, OECD 2018). Two questions that have been raised are whether the research has focused on the knowledge needs farmers really have and how the cooperation among the actors along the knowledge chain works. The goal of this pilot project was to develop and test, in a small scale, a process to identify and classify knowledge needs of Swedish farmers, in collaboration with key stakeholders along the knowledge chain in the agricultural sector. The long-term goal is to scale up the process to a national level to assess farmers needs in Swedish agriculture. The purpose is to highlight what knowledge farmers request all over Sweden and to provide input to the prioritization of research and development funds. The project was carried out during the Cov-19 pandemic 2020-2021, which limited the possibility of physical meetings, and all meetings were therefore digital. Four digital workshops were conducted in slightly different ways, with farmers representing two geographical areas. Each workshop had a unique set-up of participating farmers. At the workshops, the farmers discussed and prioritized their various knowledge needs. The material from the workshops was compiled into categories and sent out for feedback to various experts, in the broad sense. The experts classified the needs according to what knowledge is already available and whether this knowledge is easily accessible. They were also asked to rank their top three most important knowledge needs for each category. A process to capture, classify and prioritise farmers' knowledge needs is presented and tested in this study. This process captures farmers' knowledge needs in a broad sense and is favourably to be used as a complement to knowledge gaps identified by specialised interest groups, such as trade associations or sector-specific centres, to provide a comprehensive picture of farmers' knowledge needs. By collaboratively highlighting and discussing farmers' knowledge needs in a broader context, the process has potential to increase cooperation and knowledge exchange between the actors in the agricultural knowledge chain.

  • Viljebegreppet och psykologin : En studie av psykologins framväxt som vetenskap i Sverige genom en analys av viljebegreppets betydelseförändring
  • 2008
  • Reports (pop. science, debate, etc.)abstract
    • The aim of this study is to elucidate the process in which psychology was separated from philosophy and established itself as a distinct academic discipline in Sweden. I argue that the concept of will, as well as the concepts of thinking and emotion, have a lot to tell us about the rise of academic psychology in Sweden. This is done through an analysis of psychology textbooks, encyclopaedia-articles and academic texts on the themes will and psychology, from around 1800 till 1950.Prior to the establishment of the first chair of psychology in Uppsala 1948, the discipline was above all a part of the philosophical discipline. For psychology to become a science of its own, it was crucial to obtain a position among the empirical sciences. It thus had to distance itself from philosophy, and in particular from metaphysics. In that respect the concept of will, thinking and emotion posed a problem. On the one hand, these concepts seamed necessary for a science of the psyche but on the other, they were traditionally associated with philosophy and especially with metaphysics. From around 1900, the concept of will underwent an empirisation process in which it distanced itself from the metaphysical content of meaning. The idea of thinking, emotion and will as faculties was criticised and replaced by a way of speaking of them in terms of single acts, able to be analysed in a more empirical manner. This change was in accordance with the new demand on empiricism. Within psychology, however, practicians of the trade still spoke in terms of will, thinking and emotion, as well as of classical philosophical problems such as that of the free will, albeit in a more empirical manner.A second, more profound change, occurred in the 1940s when the concepts of thinking, emotion and will, as well as the problem of the free will were sorted out from the psychological discourse. In light of their long time as an integral part of the psychological discourse it was a significant change that the human psyche was no longer to be discussed in terms of will, thinking and emotion. The most likely explanation of this change is that the institutional split between psychology and philosophy after 1948 also signified a separation between philosophical and empirical-psychological questions. After 1948 it was possible to pursue scientific studies in psychology without any knowledge of philosophy and hence, without an urge to pose philosophical questions.
