Reply to Comment on "Effects of spatial dispersion on electromagnetic surface modes and on modes associated with a gap between two half spaces" : in Physical Review B. Condensed Matter and Materials Physics(ISSN 1098-0121), vol 75, article 036102

• Thetwo different versions of the theory of electromagnetism in metallicsystems, used in the professional literature and in textbooks, arereviewed. The difference in the resulting boundary conditions for theauxiliary functions in the two versions is pointed out. Thetopic of energy conservation is addressed, and it is demonstratedthat energy is conserved in the formalism used in theoriginal work.
