  • Life, death, and after life
  • 2021
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • In Changing Things, Redström and Wiltse (2019) talk about how things have changed in their becoming throughout the history bringing us to the time of fluid assemblages. These dynamic beings have created new spatio-temporal ecologies. This moment looks at fluid assemblages and their impact in DRS community’s everyday lives. What kinds of things have emerged at our homes or workplaces (Life), what kinds of things have disappeared (Death), what kinds of things do we still keep but not use or have we repurposed (After Life)? What caused these transitions? How is our relationship with these things, how do we feel about them, what has changed? The moment invites the DRS community to create collages reflecting on these experiences by focusing on a selection of daily activities as listening to music, doing sports, cooking, maintaining wellbeing, etc. on a collective Miro board.

  • Wideband and efficient watt-level SiGe BiCMOS switching mode power amplifier using continuous class-E modes theory
  • 2014
  • Ingår i: Digest of Papers - IEEE Radio Frequency Integrated Circuits Symposium. - 1529-2517. - 9781479938629 ; , s. 243-246
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • In this paper, a generic, wide-band switch mode power amplifier (SMPA) design approach is developed based on the continuous class-E modes theory. A watt level, 1.3-2.2 GHz SiGe BiCMOS class-E SMPA is realized for experimental verification. The prototype provides collector efficiencies higher than 70% and output power levels higher than 29 dBm across 1.3-2.2 GHz band, fully confirming the validity of the proposed design approach.

  • Recognizing and Responding to Anti-Science in Environmental and Public Health Research and Practice
  • 2023
  • Ingår i: International journal of environmental research and public health. - : MDPI AG. - 1660-4601. ; 20:4
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • This perspectives article considers the challenges posed by anti-science and how we can use research to respond more effectively. In public health, the challenges were more visible and the impact more serious during the COVID-19 pandemic. In part, this was due to a more organized anti-science and effective use of narrative methods. Regarding climate change, the role of anti-science represents a critical issue, but perhaps more recognized in environmental research and practice. The article draws on a narrative review to show some of the research into the nature of anti-science and the challenges it poses. It proposes that, as researchers, practitioners, and educationalists, we can be more effective if we make more use of recent research in the sciences of communications, behavior, and implementation, and shows some of the resources we can use to help our work be more relevant in the new era in which we are living.

  • Psychometric evaluation and measurement equivalence of the Adolescents' Societal Belongingness Scale (ASBS)
  • 2023
  • Ingår i: European Journal of Developmental Psychology. - : Routledge. - 1740-5629 .- 1740-5610.
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Societal belongingness - feelings of being a connected, an affiliated, and a respected member of the larger society - may contribute to the understanding of adolescent development both as a person and a member of society in a multicultural context. The current study examined the psychometric properties and measurement invariance of the Adolescents' Societal Belongingness Scale (ASBS) using data from 12- to 15-year-old youth (N = 1065, M-age = 13.12, SD = .42, 45% female). Multiple group CFA models revealed configural, scalar, and metric invariance of the societal belongingness scale across adolescents with immigrant, mixed, and Swedish backgrounds. The scale scores were positively correlated with class belonging and social trust and negatively correlated with depressive symptoms and delinquency. Between-group differences across immigrant, mixed-heritage, and native youth provided further evidence for the sensitivity of the measure. Overall, the current findings suggest that the societal belongingness scale could be used for studying the sense of belonging towards the larger society across adolescents of immigrant, mixed, and majority backgrounds.

  • Linearization Study of a Highly Efficient CMOS-GaN RF Pulse Width Modulation Based Transmitter
  • 2012
  • Ingår i: European Microwave Conference. - : IEEE. ; , s. 136-139
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • This paper studies linearity of a 2 GHz, 10 Watt peak output power RF pulse width modulation (RF-PWM) based transmitter. The transmitter incorporates a tunable load network class-E PA as the final output stage. The tunable load network enables dynamic optimization of the class-E along with the duty cycle resulting in high efficiency over a wide range of output power levels. A digital predistiortion based linearization scheme is proposed to enhance the linearity of the transmitter. After linearization, the transmitter exhibits an adjacent channel power ratio (ACPR) of -45 dBc with a 3.84 MHz, 6.7 dB peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) W-CDMA signal. The average drain efficiency of the GaN HEMT output stage is 67% and the total transmitter efficiency is 54%.

  • Starvation to Glucose Reprograms Development of Neurovascular Unit in Embryonic Retinal Cells
  • 2021
  • Ingår i: Frontiers in Cell and Developmental Biology. - : Frontiers Media SA. - 2296-634X. ; 9, s. 1-11
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Perinatal exposure to starvation is a risk factor for development of severe retinopathy in adult patients with diabetes. However, the underlying mechanisms are not completely understood. In the present study, we shed light on molecular consequences of exposure to short-time glucose starvation on the transcriptome profile of mouse embryonic retinal cells. We found a profound downregulation of genes regulating development of retinal neurons, which was accompanied by reduced expression of genes encoding for glycolytic enzymes and glutamatergic signaling. At the same time, glial and vascular markers were upregulated, mimicking the diabetes-associated increase of angiogenesis-a hallmark of pathogenic features in diabetic retinopathy. Energy deprivation as a consequence of starvation to glucose seems to be compensated by upregulation of genes involved in fatty acid elongation. Results from the present study demonstrate that short-term glucose deprivation during early fetal life differentially alters expression of metabolism- and function-related genes and could have detrimental and lasting effects on gene expression in the retinal neurons, glial cells, and vascular elements and thus potentially disrupting gene regulatory networks essential for the formation of the retinal neurovascular unit. Abnormal developmental programming during retinogenesis may serve as a trigger of reactive gliosis, accelerated neurodegeneration, and increased vascularization, which may promote development of severe retinopathy in patients with diabetes later in life.

  • Data-Driven Damage Detection and Control Adaptation for an Autonomous Underwater Vehicle
  • 2022
  • Ingår i: 61st IEEE Conference on Decision and Control (CDC), 2022.
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Underwater robotic exploration missions typically involve traveling long distances without any human contact. The robots that go on such missions risk getting damaged by the unknown environment, accruing great costs and missed opportunities. Thus it is important for the robot to be able to accommodate unknown changes to its dynamics as much as possible and attempt to finish the given mission, or at the very least move itself to a retrievable position. In this paper, we show how we can detect physical changes to the robot reliably (79\% on real robot data) and then incorporate these changes through adapting the model to the data followed by automated control redesign. We adopt a piecewise-affine (PWA) modelling of the dynamics that is well suited for low data regime learning of the dynamics and provides a structure for computationally efficient control synthesis. We demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method on a combination of real robot data and simulated scenarios.
