Bok (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
- According to legend, Sigfridus was a British archbishop and one of the earliest missionaries to Sweden, active c. 1000 in southern Sweden. He came to be celebrated as a holy bishop and confessor. The oldest office (officium vetus) for St. Sigfrid, the 13th-century prose office Celebremus karissimi, seemingly the earliest complete office for a Swedish saint, is transcribed from codices and fragments from the 13th through 16th centuries. A commentary about the influences for this old office, its musical and poetic style. The chants would have contributed to the image of the saint by re-using model melodies and/or text passages from other saints’ offices (saints James and Gregory). Sequence and versus alleluiaticus in Appendix. English summary, p. 139-148.
