- We establish the connection between the variants of Schechter's complex interpolation methods, Peetre-Gustavsson's interpolation methods, and the Calderon-Lozanovskii construction on vector-valued Banach lattices. As applications, we show that the uniform convexity and the UMD property are stable byinterpolation.

- In this paper we consider the Schrodinger operator H = -d(2)/dx(2)+V in L-2(R), where V satisfies an abstract short-range condition and the (solvability) condition <1, V1>not equal0. Spectral properties of H in the low-energy limit are analyzed. Asymptotic expansions for R(zeta) = (H-zeta)(-1) and the S-matrix S(lambda) are deduced for zeta-->0 and lambdadown arrow0, respectively. Depending on the zero-energy properties of H, the expansions of R(C) take different forms. Generically, the expansions of R() do not contain negative powers; the appearance of negative powers in zeta(1/2) is due to the possible presence of zero-energy resonances (half-bound states) or the eigenvalue zero of H (bound state), or both. It is found that there are at most two zero resonances modulo L-2-functions.

- We prove sharp weighted inequalities for general integral operators acting on monotone functions of several variables. We extend previous results in one dimension, and also those in higher dimension for particular choices of the weights (power weights, etc.). We introduce a new kind of conditions, which take into account the more complicated structure of monotone functions in dimension n > 1, and give an example that shows how intervals are not enough to characterize the boundedness of the operators (contrary to what happens for n = 1). We also give several applications of our techniques.

- Stein and Taibleson gave a characterization for f ϵ Lp(ℝn) to be in the spaces Lip (α, Lp) and Zyg(α, Lp) in terms of their Poisson integrals. In this paper we extend their results to Lipschitz-Orlicz spaces Lip (α, Lm) and Zygmund-Orlicz spaces Zyg (φ, Lm) and to the general function φ ϵ P instead of the power function φ(t)= tα. Such results describe the behavior of the Laplace equation in terms of the smoothness property of differences of f in Orlicz spaces Lm (IRn). More general spaces δk(φ,X, q) are also considered.

- Different notions of amenability on hypergroups and their relations are studied. Developing Leptin's theorem for discrete hypergroups, we characterize the existence of a bounded approximate identity for hypergroup Fourier algebras. We study the Leptin condition for discrete hypergroups derived from the representation theory of some classes of compact groups. Studying amenability of the hypergroup algebras for discrete commutative hypergroups, we obtain some results on amenability properties of some central Banach algebras on compact and discrete groups.
